Total mushroom production worldwide has increased more than 18-fold in the last 32 years, from about 300,000 metric tons in 1960 to about 6,000,000 metric tons in 1997 (Table 1). This research explains how humanity has cultivated and dominated the fungi and mushrooms to it's own benefit.
