The objective of this research work are to: i. Carry out the synthesis of an amine compound 2-(4-aminophenoxy)-2-methyl propionic acid a potent antisickling agent. ii. Carry out a nucleophilic addition reaction of 2-(4-aminophenoxy)-2-methyl propionic acid with carbonyl compounds (example benzaldehyde) so as to obtain a Schiff base with possible antitumor property. The overall aim of this work therefore is to attempt the synthesis of a possible potent antisickling agent with possible antitumor properties, so as to improve the efficiency of the antisickling agent in ameliorating painful sensation accompanying sickle cell crisis.
