What is research?
Kumar (2008) defines research as “an intensive and purposeful search for knowledge and understanding of social and physical phenomena.” The author further opines that research takes place when people engage in an activity aimed at establishing an issue, a theory, a fact, an application or a principle. Research is, therefore, a quest for knowledge in which the person searching for understanding begins with what is known and moves to what is unknown.
