Part 1. Parables of Sower sets the living of gated communities as a major topic of her writing. Lauren Olamina does not fall into despair unlike her parents who find themselves miserable in the gated community of Robledo. Lauren seeks to improve her life and her surroundings not only for her own benefit but for the benefit of others. Lauren stands as the inspiration to other members of the community and that is why people follow her when she founds a new community in Acorn.
Perhaps, because of Lauren’s sincere sympathy for others, she has truly invested in building of the Acorn’s community. She managed to settle this new group because she knew its needs well and she understood how to fulfill them. As Lauren is very empathic, she perceives the suffering of the others as her own. That is why Lauren struggles to make everyone’s life better, not only her own. She teaches her fellows to look out for one another making a significant contribution to the development of the community.
Part 2. Theistic or religious humanism combines the philosophy of humanism with religious rituals, beliefs, and values that are centered on human needs, abilities, and interests. In other words, theistic humanist lives his/her life according to the religious and secular principles that appear to be humanistic in their nature. For a theistic humanist, the individual and humanity are the highest values.
Part 3. Capitalistic corporatist, on the other hand, is a supporter of corporate values. According to his/her worldview, the society is divided into corporate groups that are different in their activities but interact with each other on the basis of common interests. This worldview implies that the society has hierarchic structure, and the interests of a particular corporate group are considered more important than these of the humanity in general.
