Malaria is a disease that mostly hits the warm, tropical regions of the world, and usually the poorer or developing countries are the ones that suffer from it. Children are one of the groups of individuals most susceptible to malaria. This is largely because they have not developed the immunity needed to ward off malaria once they’re bitten by a mosquito. Especially, if the disease strikes in its most virulent form, then it can be fatal for children in most cases.
There are five major pathogenic species of malaria. The protozoan parasite is from the genus Plasmodium, which dies without a host. The most life-threatening species is the Plasmodium falciparum which causes most deaths around the world. Plasmodium vivax is the second most dangerous species of the parasite. Plasmodium value is the third species which together with Plasmodium falciparum causes the complications in the liver. The fourth one is Plasmodium malaria is a minor form of the parasite. Plasmodium knowledge is a species that affects primates and also leads to human malaria yet its means of transmission is still uncertain.
Malaria is still a problem in developing countries because of the fact that most of these countries are moist or present in the tropical regions where the mosquito breeds and the disease is rampant and hard to control. Secondly, it is the cost of treatment of malaria which cannot be afforded by the people from developing countries. In the United States, the drug and prevention have been very effective which is why it is largely free from malaria.
