Good Essay On Three General Functions Of The Nervous System
The Nervous system is an important part of the body. It is the primary control centers in maintaining the body homeostasis. It is called the body’s main communication system because it collects, analyzes, and uses the data from the environment. The communicator of external and internal stimuli is called the neuron which also serves as a sensor for the nervous system. The immediate responses on the system are done through the use of electrical signals. The nervous system has three major functions in human bodies; sensory input, integration, and motor output.
The nervous system functions as a sensory input through the use of the neurons. It senses the external and internal changes or stimuli by the use of the receptors in the body. After sensing the change in the stimuli, it sends a message to the brain for processing. The second function of the brain, integration, is done through the use of the interneurons in the brain. It interprets and processes the message that came from the sensory input, and quickly decides where to send the information in the body. The third function, motor output, is done through the use of the motor or efferent neurons. Those neurons are the ones who receive the message from the integration part. The effector organs will then use the gathered and synthesized information to produce responses.
The nervous system is one of the complex systems our bodies have. This system has played an important role in our daily lives. The three main functions of the nervous system may look very simple, but in reality it is a very complex way of communicating the parts of the human body. It is right that as humans, we should have the knowledge about it.
