Henry Ford lived between 1863 and 1947. He was America’s most remarkable business person, well known for founding the Ford Motor Company. He is remembered for his quest to initiate mass-consumption as well as mass-production in the economy of America. Standardization was one of the Ford’s business practices in conjunction with assembly lines and increased salaries for workers. In the 1920s, Ford was among the most prosperous citizens and he thus decided to engage in social matters thus taking strident positions on those affairs.
One of the notable acts attributed to Ford was to sponsor citizens who were immigrants in America by offering them education and jobs so that they would conform to the lifestyle that the Americans lived in order to retain their occupations. As per innovation, Ford maintained that a true innovator pursued his vision regardless of the customer’s input and he thus ignored his son’s advice together with his executive to upgrade his Model T. These affected the company’s sales in 1920s with the onset of more luxurious cars such as the Chevrolet.
Ford failed to assert that there were people who would openly talk about what kind of innovation, they needed and the kind of products they would prefer the manufactures build. Nevertheless, there are consumers who would just go for products that were in the market without showing any signs of a need for change. According to Ford, one would go for any car that had any color as long as the color was black.
Finally, from Ford’s failure to establish competition with other costly, but stylish car models from companies such as Chevrolet, it is clear that when in pursuit of invention it would dangerous to ignore change. Failure to change as per the drastic innovations with time led to the poor performance of the Ford Motor Industry.
