Introduction to the Bible

Being a part of gospel proclamation requires that one gets the right information to any person regardless of who they are as many times as possible. Many prophets will come in His name proclaiming to be sent by Him, and so people should stay awake for such situations. Currently, there are very many religions that claim to worship God and so people should not follow them. In line with this, the role of the ministers of the Gospel to the current generation is to ensure that people are not misled into believing such people and their teachings. The word of God is an inflexible truth, and it has always stood the test of time and will continue doing so. Getting people to understand and accept this fact requires that the ministers who are in charge of spreading the gospel know the kind of information that they need to be feeding the ‘flock’ to avoid cases of being misled by false prophets. Ministers are not only charged with the responsibility of preventing Christians from being misled but also getting back those who have been lost in the worldly pleasures (Robert 2006, p.190). It is the responsibility of the ministers to ensure that they teach the word of God to such people who have never known the word of God or those who have been lost in sin so that they can change their ways. This is exactly what Moses did with the Israelites when they left Egypt. They had forgotten that God had seen them through the journey out of Egypt and so they began to model other gods and take part in promiscuous activities. They had been lost in sin and Moses was the one who had to bring back things to operate generally in accordance with God’s wishes. It is precisely the same role that ministers should play in the current society.
Prophet’s life-renovating roles The prophets were not primarily people who foretold the future much as they had the power and exercised it, rather, their primary responsibility was to keep the people in constant relationship with God all the time through different actions. They functioned in various social contexts (Edwards 2009, p. 190) and for consideration, in this case, will be Prophet Elijah. He was prominent during the reign of King Ahab of the Northern Kingdom of Israel. This situation portrays Elijah as the new Moses at that time (Edwards 2009, p.200). His confrontation with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel where he challenges their belief (1 Kings 18) is a reminder of the incidence in Exodus where the Israelites conduct and worship of a golden calf are punished by plague for their idolatry. Here, he was meant to remind people of God’s superior nature and the fact that He was still watching over them and the sins that they were committing to Him. The people are supposed to leave their evil ways and return to God. Otherwise, they risk facing God’s wrath. At Mount Horeb, Elijah heard God’s voice that told him to anoint Hazael and Jehu as the new Kings of Aram and Israel. He was also to anoint Elisha as his successor to continue with the spread of the Gospel. By so doing, he was ensuring that the spread of the word of God would continue regardless of those who were in authority.
