Use of psychosocial services to the cancer patients could help them in their recovery. However, many people only associate the healing with the use of medicines and neglect other factors that hasten the healing process. Additionally, the social workers should also introduce the psychosocial services in the initial stages of the patient to enable them relate well to them and increase awareness of their existence. Nonetheless, it is essential to note that the services depend on the resources and benefits the patients get from it.
In the societies, most cancer patients fear coming out in the open to seek for help, and this hinders them from accessing the psychosocial services. Additionally, they face a lot of stigma from the community members, and this contributes to their hiding. However, the social workers have the obligation to inform the society in general on the need to support the cancer patients. Nevertheless, the health care service providers in collaboration with the government should also ensure that the health facilities are available to the citizenry to reduce the traveling costs. The distresses found in most of the cancer patients require the psychosocial services.
Nonetheless, in today’s world, the health experts have increased awareness of the availability of the psychosocial services thereby prompting the upsurge in seeking the services. Research has shown that the use of holistic services to the cancer patients improves their wee-being. For this reason, the cancer patients should seek these services on top of the medication. One could agree with the author that psychosocial assistance is essential to the healing of an individual. Hence, the social workers services need to get the services to the people.
Consequently, it is essential to note that cancer patients need patient people who can associate with them closely to enable them realize the need for psychosocial services. Additionally, the patients withdraw from such services due to the fear of failure to work, unawareness and both the financial and time constraints. The author paints a clear picture that cancer treatment is very expensive, and most of the people do not access the services due to lack of the funds. As a result, many individuals succumb to the disease. Nevertheless, the distress affects the females due to their inferior nature mostly. Mostly, cancer affects one’s reproductive ability leading to the reduction of childbearing. As a result, the women feel intimidated and stigmatized due to their inability to bear children. Therefore, women undergo much trauma than the male counterparts. For this reason, it is necessary to increase awareness of the psychosocial services to the women to help in their recovery and emotional assistance.
However, for effective psychosocial services to the cancer patients, other factors should also play a part. For instance, the transportation costs, the cultural practices, and the health insurances affected the patients’ health. Additionally, the social relationships of the patients also determined the effect of the psychosocial services, for example; the unmarried women experienced a lot of trauma than the married one. It is because the unmarried developed self-pity that no one would want an association with them, and the effects of the cancer medication in their bodies. Nevertheless, to ascertain the findings of the cancer patients, the researchers should conduct a detailed survey. As a result, it would enable the health care providers determine the areas that need proper attention.
On the other hand, the psychosocial services cannot work without the patients’ efforts. Therefore, the patients must show willingness to attend and embrace the psychosocial services because it motivates the health care providers. Additionally, the services cannot yield anything if the patients disregard the instructions and support given to them.
Nonetheless, the health care providers to the cancer patients should have adequate information that would help them administer the services to the patients. As a result, they relate well to the patients thereby affecting their distress services to them, and it leads to health improvement. Nonetheless, the government has a role to play in licensing the caregivers to enable them reach most of the cancer patients. The denial of licenses to some community health workers derails the implementation of the psychosocial services because they fear getting into conflict with the authorities. As a result, the health officials tend to withdraw from providing the health care services. Additionally, the licensing also increases the credibility of the caregivers leading to more patients listening and following the instruction given.
However, the gynecologists and oncologists need to work closely together with the social workers for efficacy of the psychosocial in the societies. It is necessary to know that the social workers identify well with the cancer patients in the communities due to their interactions and familiarity. As a result, the implementation of the services becomes much easier with the help of the social workers. Cancer patients need to identify with the persons who understand them fully and the ones who could spare the time and freely associate with the patients. Therefore, the social workers could give the extra care needed by the cancer patients due to the busy schedule of the gynecologists and oncologists.
