On March 23, 2010 President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into effect. It became the new governing law of the land concerning health care and insurance companies. This was one of the most significant changes to the medical and insurance industries ever, so as a result, there is much debate and scrutiny about the specifics of the bill. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) had the goal of increasing quality and affordability of health care insurance, and to especially lower the uninsured rate.
