George Orwell’s, “Shooting an Elephant” is a short story that is a first person narrative of an English policeman working in Colonial Burma. The short story details the events of a day when the narrator is asked to shoot an elephant that has gone wild during must. Although at the time of the shooting, the elephant is no longer violent, the narrator shoots it dead.
