P1. The MVCH study team is currently in the first two methodical steps of the systems development life cycle, which is planning and analysis. Part of the planning step includes the identification of four critical success factors (CSFs) – medical care quality, operating costs control, capital costs control and skilled personnel recruitment and retention, alongside short and long-term objectives for each of them – purchased item cost reduction, greater staff scheduling efficiency, lower liability insurance costs and volunteer services expansion. As the foregoing are identified as goals of the MVCH study team to overcome financial challenges and malpractice insurance, the following major business functions are identified: patient care administration, clinical services, patient care services, financial management and administrative services. Yet, as the MVCH study team has yet to transcend the analysis step as seen in MVCH Figures 1-1 to 1-6, it is important to outline how the next three methodical steps of the systems development life cycle – design, implementation and maintenance, would proceed. The design step involves the application of the enterprise data model – subject to modification in the analysis step, on coherently connecting existing systems and databases. This is to ensure that MVCH would be able to cut as much costs to overcome financial challenge and malpractice insurance. The implementation and maintenance steps require the application of the developed system for MVCH, subject to a feedback mechanism that ensures it continued effectiveness. When necessary, it is possible to revert to previous methodical steps in descending order to ensure that the developed system for MVCH continues to work in accordance to stated goals.
P2. Apart from the patient bill, other user views that could occur in a hospital environment are the following: doctor’s prescription, medical findings (x-ray, post-process reports and progress reports) and schedules for physicians and nurses staffing every ward, among many others.
