Targeted Behavior
As part of the impetus to eliminate a bad habit, I wish to reduce the time I spend online to 90 minutes a day.

Why I Want to Change It

I wish to reduce my time spent online as I have found that over a period of time, my online life has affected my offline presence. I have lost many friends who have complained that I do not have time to converse with them or go out for social events with them. I have observed that I am falling back in my studies. At times, I have found myself daydreaming about the level I have been stuck in a particular game while in class. I am even neglecting to eat when I am playing multiplayer online games. Therefore, I need to reduce my time spent online to arrest my slide in academics, to regain my perspective about life and to get my social life back on track.

How I would Implement the Change

I plan to implement my drive towards lesser time on the Internet through a combination of measures. I would install a program on my PC that would turn off the PC whenever I am online for more than 90 minutes in a day. To ensure that I don’t cheat the system by logging on again, I would get an app that would send messages of me reaching my outer limits at surfing to my parents and a few close friends. This would ensure that my parents and close friends monitor my online presence and give me positive feedback at my increasing resolve to break out of my erstwhile habit. I would announce my resolution of 90 minutes online presence to my friends on social media, so that they would support me in this endeavor. I would also disable social media apps from my mobile phone so that I don’t get tempted to begin living online through the mobile phone instead of through the PC.

How I Would Observe Change

I would measure my online life through computer logs that would provide details of the amount of time spent online. I would create a graph of the time I spent online and post it on social media to garner support for my goal of I would create mechanisms wherein these computer logs went to my parents and a few close friends too, so that they took interest in my targets of reducing my online behavior.
