Good Example Of Service Learning Essay

Kindness is not only constrained to human implementation, but even to all living things. Therefore, the acts of cruelty against other living creatures are a sin. Christians believe that kindness is the only language that deaf people hear and the only language blind people see. Consequently, kindness becomes a universal language that is understood beyond the seas. It is one of the seven virtues of the Christians who help them to comprehend and speak it to all kind of people. In my case, I believed that kindness acts will never go pointless. In addition, kindness reminds me that other people are fragile, and I have the power to heal or hurt them and I choose to be a healer. Kindness acts to other implants a positive feeling hence making the world a better place for humankind.
In Windsor, I went to one of senior living home; it was a place for people with Alzheimer’s disease. I realized that they needed a compassionate caregiver who can become like a family to them. I was allowed to have an opportunity to work with Kate, the home coordinator. She helped me to know activities of the senior living home. Tears of sorrow and mercy flow down my face. Most of the senior who were there had memory problems and were wholly confused. They could forget so quickly even what they have been just told to them. When feeding them, I realized that the patients could lose interest even in the important things, and I wondered about how they took their medication. They lacked motivations of beginning their activities by themselves. I noticed that the caregivers in the senior living here at Windsor are compassionate since they are doing a recommendable work to our elders. This is an act of kindness that is required by the world.
The nature is too kind to human since it helps in flourishing the civilization. Having realized this, I involved myself in activities that could help these seniors. The patients at senior living require a progressive help in their routine activities such as grooming and hygiene. For those who were in early stage of Alzheimer’s disease, I helped them to do their things one step at a time mostly in their daily routines. In dressing the patients have a problem in balancing, so they required my help. I realized that in this stage the patients could discuss what is happening, provide insight, and able to perform certain volunteer work. However, they required some help in times of frustration.
Many patients with Alzheimer’s disease have a problem with eating, in their eating style I tried to reduce confusion that can make them refuse to eat. For instance, avoiding plates with patterns and omitting the knives. I have learned that the smallest things one does for someone mean a world to another. From this experience, I have learned great things about myself. I have volunteered before, but this experience makes me discover difference that I can make in people’s lives. By being only positive and having good spirits, can make another’s life happier and better.
In conclusion, the Bible says God was kind by giving his only begotten son to die for our sin. Therefore, we should also reflect the acts of kindness to those need it. The Bible also tells us that we should be kind, tender-hearted and forgive others just as God and Christ also forgiven humankind. Services to humanity are service to God. What goes around comes around, be kind in your behavior and the same will come back to you.
