1. As TV became the country’s most popular medium radio had to change in order to survive. Radio expanded the FM coverage in the United States, as FM was better in fidelity than AM it is even used today. Smaller radio companies began to dominate the industry as the big names left and went to television.2. Digital technology for radio has provided a better audio experience than FM. With the arrival of satellite based radio technology, which is subscription based, people are able to access quality radio channels that extend further than the FM radios of the past. This means limited commercials, clearer sound, and the ability to access radios in remote locations. 3. Before the 1950s there was no at all. After television was introduced movies and televisions were linked. The movies were brought from the theater to the home. Today, they are almost synonymous with each other. 4. Peer-to-peer sharing was the first threat to the movie industry allowing anyone to pirate movies and distribute them. Today there are illegal torrents that one can download to access the newest and sometimes unreleased movies. There are even streaming websites that threaten the how the movie industry is able to control its intellectual property.5. Ancillary rights and products help fund the entertainment industry well after the movies, tv shows, etc are released. Even if the shows are being pirated, there still could be revenue from the sale of posters and other merchandise. The changing demographics also effect ancillary products as the newer generations are less keen on purchasing movies and memorabilia.6. Men’s Magazines, women’s magazines are the main dividers. All these magazines face competition from the internet and have sought to provide electronic versions of their magazines in order to compete. 7. Special interest magazines target a small percentage of the population; a niche group. This means that advertising prices must be higher to cover the cost. Special interest magazine readers are highly profitable audiences because typically the readers are hobbyists or enthusiasts of some sort. That being said, they are more willing to spend money on whatever hobby the magazine is about.
