Bush believed that the exercise of recounting the votes was in contravention of the constitution.

The court ruled in favor of G. W. Bush. The court judges cited that the 14th Amendment of the Constitution of the US had a clear process of recounting of the votes in the event of disputes. The court asserted the process violated the equal protection clause. In the process of the recounting of the votes, there were many oversights. The equal rights protection clauses require that he federal government must respects, uphold, and maintain all the legal rights of the citizens. The state governments have no right or freedom to infringe on the liberties and civil right of the citizens since that is against the constitution.
