Changing trends and concepts of respondent superior and vicarious liability regarding negligence and malpractice as they relate specifically to the performance of your duties as an allied health professional
Changes in trends and concepts of health care sector create a significant impact to allied health professionals working in both national and international organizations. Changes in healthcare regulations and labor forces in the global healthcare setting affect the performance of allied health professionals. The High number of risks is associated with allied health professionals working in national and international organizations that cause significant liabilities. Some of the liabilities occur because of negligence and malpractices in the modern health sector. Health occupation regulations like the institutional licensure shifts regulations of health professional responsibilities from state licensure to hospitals. Major issues such as malpractice liability are very common in among allied health professionals working in international organizations (Pindus, & Greiner, 1997).
Allied health professionals play major roles in promoting changes in trends and concepts in modern health care sector. Unlike the traditional belief that health professionals would only perform nationally the current trends offer allied health professional opportunity to deliver health services internationally. The introduction of cost effective ways of providing health care reduce liabilities regarding negligence and malpractices (Thomas, McLean, & Debnam, 2012). On the other hand, countries have introduced health regulations regarding issues of malpractice and negligence in order to minimize liabilities of international allied health professionals. In Italy, health professionals are held responsible for negligence and malpractices experienced while attending to patients. The law protects health professionals to some extent, but if the accused is found guilty of negligence or malpractice healthcare regulations apply (Traina, 2008).
Allied health professionals should demonstrate high levels of responsiveness while handling patients in national and international organization. New trends and concepts condemn any form of negligence and malpractice experienced in the delivery of care. Some professional originate from countries lacking health reforms and find it challenging adapting to new regulations in the international setting. The increasing number of allied health professionals is accelerated by the growing need for more workforces in the healthcare sector. The Australian introduced training programs that offer professionals with knowledge, abilities and skills to enable them deliver high quality and safe health services (Allied Health Professionals Australia, 2013). Professionals are liable for negligence and malpractices that attract high penalties.
Compare and contrast potential liabilities in both national and global organizations
Allied health professionals face many obligations in national and global organizations that compare and differ in many ways.
Both national and global liabilities result from the negligence of either the allied health professional or the health care management. In most instances, potential liabilities associated with errors in medication or inappropriate care for hospitalized patients occurs because of the laxity of healthcare providers. Secondly, potential liabilities in national and global organizations occur due to emerging trends and issues associated with the expansion of health care internationally. Both national and global organizations provide liability insurance for allied health professionals and patients that cover any issue arising during or after the delivery of care. Healthcare premises are covered by appropriate and adequate liability insurance policies focusing on specific health profession board.
National and global organizations have different classifications of liabilities depending on the location and regulations in the health care industry of the distinct nation. Firstly, potential national liabilities are associated with lack of facilities and equipments necessary to handle health issues while global liabilities are associated with lack of professional healthcare providers. For example, developing countries suffer from lack of experienced and trained health professionals to deal with chronic illnesses and major surgeries creating a potential liability to the national health sector. Secondly, global organizations have different health insurance covers compared to national organizations. The insurance cost in national organizations is high compared to international organizations. Allied health professionals operating internationally are likely to receive high liability compensations compared to professionals working in national organizations.
Recommendations for health professionals in national and global organizations
Health professionals working in national and global organizations should demonstrate high levels of proficiency that aligns with the changing trends in health care. Presently, health professionals work nationally or globally and are expected to adhere to international health regulations. Firstly, institutions responsible for training health care providers should design and implement continuous development training programs that focus on evolving global health-care needs. Health professionals should undergo extensive training programs aimed at equipping them with international health standards. Education and training help in advancing and transforming health professions and prepared them for the future expansion of the health care sector (World Health Organization, 2013). Secondly, the government, health project donors, and other funding institutions should be encouraged to support the implementation of policies that support global health-care needs. Examples of such policies are the introduction of health insurance covering less disadvantaged, the poor and low-income families in all nations worldwide.
Health care delivery has expanded to global levels calling for more advancements and innovations. Health training institutions should encourage students to come up with innovations that will ensure common malpractices and negligence cases within the health sector come to an end. The government should incorporate community-based health officials and community workers in educating the public on how to live healthy lifestyles. Finally, most potential liabilities experienced in national and global organizations occur because of poor accreditation of allied health officials. National health care departments should introduce accreditation of health professionals. The Government should only allow accredited health providers to offer medical services to patients at national and international levels to avoid cases of liabilities. According to World Health Organization (2013), accreditation of healthcare providers has a significant positive impact on individuals seeking employment in international organizations. Accredited health professionals demonstrate high levels of knowledge and skills that ensure patients receive quality and safe medical care.
Health trends and issues have significant impacts on health professionals in both national and global organizations. The discussion revealed that allied health professionals face challenges from changing trends and concepts, which cause significant liabilities to national and international health organizations. Negligence and malpractices are major causes of healthcare liabilities. Additionally, national and global organizations experience different types of liabilities, and some are similar while others vary in terms of potential. Access to insurance forms one of the major liabilities affecting national and international organizations. In order to thrive in the expanding health care sector, health departments in all nations should consider recommended approaches given in the discussion.
