A Compare and Contrast Essay

People who know the history of Canada and France know that these two countries have a lot in common. For starters, it is well known that these two countries are French speaking. Canada and France are both well-developed countries and leaders in the world. All spheres of life are in a high level of development, starting with the military and ending with cultural and social aspects of life. Thus, even though the countries share similarities, an analysis of the living conditions, the environment, and life satisfaction will show that Canada is the better place to live.
Compared to Canada, France has slightly more economic issues, as well as higher unemployment rate and worse health care conditions. The unemployment rate in France is quite a bit higher than in Canada (Husna). Nevertheless, people with higher education in Canada and France have the same opportunities to find a decent job, and it is important to note that both the French and Canadian governments are trying to decrease these numbers with the help of education and social reforms. As far as health care is concerned, the government in France spends a lot of money and resources on its population’s health. Being a well-developed country, health care in France is also very high. Compared with Canada, France is the third country in the world, after the U.S. and Netherlands that spend so much money on the population’s health.
Regarding the environment, the quality of the living environment in a country has a major influence on our health and well-being. Air and water pollution are the biggest environment problems of every country in the world. In Canada people are quite satisfied with quality of the air. In fact, due to vast amount of forests, Canada is quite an environmental friendly country with plenty of legislative reform on environmental protection. Still, there is a lot of mining, and factories exist to process the raw materials. Even so, the vast amount of space and nature allow for a variety of outdoor sports and recreation. The result of this is that people in Canada are quite satisfied with the environment.
Similar to Canada, the pollution of air and water in France is low. Furthermore, France is believed to be one of the cleanest countries in the Europe. Due to a large number of parks and gardens, people in France can enjoy fresh and clear air and water. Overall, France is less polluted that Canada. Hence, one may say that the environmental conditions in these countries are quite similar and in great conditions, but France appears to win out with better environmental conditions. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Finally, the last criterion on which these two countries should be analyzed is life satisfaction because it showcases everything – the economic, social, political, and every other sphere influence the satisfaction of living in any country. Life satisfaction evaluates how citizens see their current life. Both Canada and France are quite well-developed, modernized countries, but there are some differences between them.
The prevailing attitude among Canadian citizens when asked to evaluate their satisfaction with life in this country, the average grade was rather high. People are satisfied with the economic, social and political aspects of their country. Furthermore, people say that during their lives, they mostly experienced positive feelings and experiences. This can be contributed to many things, including the great health care and the low unemployment rate. This can also be attributed to the friendliness of the people, and to the vast amount of space in the country. The amount of nature certainly impacts life satisfaction, and there is no shortage of natural surroundings.
Compared to that, French people are less satisfied in their country. French people love their country, but they still see some problems with the economy and with politics. Like much of the European Union, the state of the economy is precarious. Also, recent outbursts of violence have caused anxiety within the general population. There are, however, factions of the population who are satisfied with all spheres of life in the country. All in all, people in France say that they are quite happy and satisfied with their lives in this country, and many feel safe and content. Daily life is pleasant in France, but the overarching state of the government results in anxiety over the future. That being the case, living satisfaction seems to be higher in Canada.
Hence, one can come to the conclusion that in spite of the fact that Canada and France have quite a lot in common, economic and social life of these countries differs. With the help of such an analysis of these two countries, people may see that despite the similarities and despite the fact that France seems to have better environmental conditions, the living conditions and the satisfaction of life make Canada the better choice to live a fulfilling life. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
