There are several identified problems with the application of quality management. If analyzed and categorized, these problems include quality audit, existence of relevant experience and knowledge, training, motivation and quality management as a marketing tool . In the field of quality management, it is critical that the quality procedure implemented within a firm is consistent with the international standards. Quality audit imposes strict professionalism, therefore, expectations of privacy, governance and its alignment to the international standard is important. Implementation of QMS will never become successful unless the assigned Quality Manager has an extensive experience on quality standards and implementation regardless of industry. It is through his quality management experience that he will utilize to develop, plan and implement QMS among different units and the entire organization. Furthermore, adherence to quality standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 requires training as it mandates a company to continuously document process and procedures to identify the training need. Since this is perennial process, involving and motivating the employees to comply with the defined quality standards is a continuous effort.
What are the responsibilities and roles of quality manager?
The primary responsibility of a Quality Manager to become a champion and expert on any initiatives that relates to quality – products, services or processes. it is his responsibility to identify and build quality standards foundation within an organization . It is his responsibility that all process owners and supervisors develop, adhere and maintain their duty on implementing and managing quality within their unit . Furthermore, his role is to confirm that there is an appropriate and accurate identification of the requirements of the clients as well as their expectations.
If you see a problem when you do an internal check, what will you follows process?
In case a problem surfaces during the process of internal check, we must follow a corrective and preventive procedure or action to address non-conformance with the quality standards as well as other undesirable circumstances. A ‘Why-How Analysis’ is essential to understand the occurrence of a problem through a single-problem approach. A continuous questioning of ‘Whys’ will eventually lead to the root cause of the issue to comprehend how we are going to fix it .
For example, we intend to understand why there are oil leaks on the floor.
1st Why – Why are there oil leaks on the floor? It is because the main oil pipe is leaking.
2nd Why – Why is oil leaking from the main oil pipe? It is because the main oil pipe and the fan are rubbing with each other that led to worn out.
3rd Why – Why are they rubbing with each other? It is because the fan is loose.
4th Why – Why is the fan loose? It is because some of its bolts lost its tension.
5th Why – Why does the bolts lose its tension? It is because our service repair man has not performed its scheduled service.
How do we address the problem? Call in the service repair group in charge and have the bolt repaired. Change the fan and adjust it so that it will not rub with the main oil pipe. Within the unit, introduce a documented procedure in case such circumstance occurs again.
