The Benefits Of Social Media Movie Reviews Examples

The usefulness of social media extends from a simple interactive tool that people use to keep in touch with others to a tool now used to disseminate important information. After watching the TED video titled How Social Media Can Make History by Clay Shirky, I realized the other uses of social media today and its other possible uses now and in the future. Shirky discussed the landscape and evolution of media and how communication has changed then and now.
At present, social media is more than just a device used to start a conversation. Shirky shared how people in the United States used social media to monitor and ensure the sanctity of votes. Moreover, Shirky claims that social media is a medium that is just right next to every people’s door. Social media is becoming less of a source of news or information. Instead, social media has now become a space for coordinating groups that watch or listen and then gather and talk to one another. Moreover, social media inspired people to become more collaborative with people not just within their cultural sphere but with people from other cultural backgrounds as well. In an earthquake that happened in China, social media was used to show photos and videos of buildings and shaking. This alerted other people, schools, government offices, and even those who were yet to open businesses in China. The news spread like wildfire. Due to the integration of social media, within half a day, donations started pouring in. The usefulness of social media extends to it being a campaign tool to launch a program. During emergency cases, social media serve as a great way to communicate and inform the emergency responders. Various emergency management agencies have already started using social media to disseminate information and educate people concerning emergency preparedness. Moreover, social media aid security officers and first responders in capturing emergency alerts.
The concepts that interested me the most is the way social media transformed people. For instance, according to the Pew Research, social networking sites have been a bridge in creating closer social ties. Facebook users have also developed more trust towards other people. Internet users gain support from the social ties developed through social media. People have also become a lot politically engaged compared to other people who are not into social media. What is more, social media have been useful in reviving dormant relationships.
I am one of the many subscribers of social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Not too long ago, I became curious about these two social networking sites since a lot of people have been talking about it. Only then that I realized Facebook has been connecting people from all over the globe. I started to appreciate Facebook after participating in a debate involving who is a better fit to be the next president of the United States. The discussions and comments I read on Facebook and Twitter helped me in deciding who to vote. At present, I am still using social media to engage in discussions about politics and news. I also use social media to post useful information concerning health and great home tools that my friends could benefit from. Lastly, I use social media to send long private messages to my friends and loved ones. The space is unlimited and sending messages is free of charge.
