Abstract
This paper is dedicated to reviewing publications addressing the impact of family structure transitions, especially, parental divorce, on academic grades of young children and adolescents. The body of literature, explored in this paper, analyses the underlying mechanisms causing negative impact on child and adolescent wellbeing and school grades and future career prospects, suggests various intervention and therapy methods for children of divorce aimed at developing strong support systems for these children.
