Evidently, the rapid change of unsustainable climatic conditions is as a result of man-made activities. There have been more droughts, summer storms along with different long-term averages that negatively affect human life. Even though such scenarios happen, the responsibility levels in which the direct involved individuals put to control the situation is less per expectations. It is therefore the right time that we as engineers go beyond adaptation to put enough effort into preserving the environment. On my part, climatic conditions will certainly shape my engineering career in two aspects.
First, I see the challenges of climate changes as a unique opportunity to increase my efficiency in all my career activities. Efficiency is attained when engineering products are designed in a better-suited form to preserve the environment. Here, it means that the normal routines of a traditional designation of engineering products have to come to an end. As they are doomed unsustainable, traditional engineering products are the core causes of environmental degradation. Ranging from products that emit a large amount of fossil fuel to the exact policies in practice, my core drive to contain the situation will be to put effort on campaigning for a change of policy. I would preach the benefit of efficiency and environmental sustainability to bring change in engineering practice.
Secondly, innovative engineering would be my focus and strength in my entire career. Ultimately, it seems that engineers have failed to provide an innovative solution to climatic challenges. Even though they understand the impact that engineering products contribute in degrading the environment, they continue with the unsustainable projects. My motivation to curb the situation would be to focus on mitigation. My future activities would engage in designing products that provide an innovative solution to the uncertainty and environmental concerns. I would focus on the reality and reverse the magnitude in which engineering products have a long-term effect on climate.

Solving the problem of water

Among the world health Organization’s mandate is to provide water solution to human life. Even though the world body does its level best, it is evident that access to clean water remains a big challenge. Statistics indicates that almost a half of the world’s human population have limited access to water with critical conditions reported especially in Africa. As a professional, I have a responsibility to provide a solution to the problem.
First, I would address water concern societal initiatives. Even though people fail to take responsibility, it is estimated that the ordinary person is the major factor in carrying on activities that cause clean water shortage. For this reason, my role would be guiding the society to adapt to sustainable routines that preserve water. Such routines include saving water at both personal and community levels. This would also have an impact on the economic component of the society. Ultimately, when adapting to water saving projects in the community, people will have access to the human want regardless of their economic constraints. Through innovation, I would effectively design water saving devices at pocket-friendly to save the community.
In providing environmental solution to clean water shortages, my motivation would be creating a platform to provide public awareness on the importance of planting trees. Technically, trees carry a key role in water formation and avoiding water shortages. I would help the society through teaching them some sustainable engineering practices that help in nurturing the growth of trees hence creating a natural environment that forms and preserves water.
