The term globalization has become one of the key concepts of modern lifestyle. Globalization can be defined as a mixture of geostrategic, social, economic, technological and cultural factors. It could be argued that technological innovations have enormous potential to restructure society. Some people even claim that our world is becoming “a global village", since cutting-edge technology erases borders. It is virtually impossible not to acknowledge the interrelation and interdependence of globalization and communication technologies. Innovations not only significantly extend the opportunities of information exchange, but also significantly increase the value of information as a strategic resource.
The phenomenon of merging markets is worth noting. Wolf (2014) draws attention to the formation of a single world market. Vergragt (2012) overlooks the fact that information globalization tends to create a single global market, which regulate the economic, political and social aspects. Wolf (2014) elaborates on the fact that global economy is associated with strong cross-border movements of finance and labor. The development of transnational corporations and banks, forming a single market economy is an obvious result of globalized technological revolution. Global market provides the dynamic distribution of goods, services, resources, technologies, ideas and implements them in the most favorable conditions (et al.). However, the benefits of globalization cannot be distributed evenly around the globe. Some industries from international trade are making huge profits and the influx of skilled labor from abroad, while others lose their competitiveness and become unnecessary. Forgotten industries require time and money to remodel, to adjust to the new conditions of life. For many it is impossible, in the end the owners are losing money, while people their work. These changes greatly hurt the national economy of each country, to make changes in the economic structure, increasing the unemployment rate. Having said that, it is obvious that innovative technologies tend to facilitate the situation in terms of economy.
Vergragt (2012) asserts that the Internet has fundamentally changed the meaning of geographical concepts in the context of international borders. It is apparent that Word Wide Web has enabled global communication in the international realm. The phenomenon of social media has become one of the main aspects of electronic communication, both in terms of recreational and professional purposes.
Social networks provide a unique platform for interaction (Wolf, 2014). Internet is the community united on the basis of common interests, goals and objectives, which are the consequence of such social features as a place of permanent residence, a common language, occupation, age and sex characteristics, national identity, political views, hobbies (Vergragt, 2012). For instance, there are online communities of fans of music styles, community sports fans, the community of young mothers, teachers, etc. All those communities are the prominent examples of globalisation. Thus, it is worth stressing that the Internet has become a truly global network, but on the other hand, in the structure of the Internet local substructures increasingly begin to form. Globalization is a process that is characterized by the relationship of peoples and nations. The world is united and multimode with the strong tendency to unity and evident diversity of cultures, lifestyles and social values. In modern times, humanity is an integrated global social system.
In light of this, technological progress, particularly in communications, constantly promotes globalization and interdependence of the world. It forms the basis for the formation of a single world system of economic, political, social and cultural ties.
