Introduction:

Orthotic Shoe Inserts are custom made inserts for different pairs and sizes of shoes. They are designed to address and solve various conditions that arise from lower body conditions and foot conditions as a result of wearing shoes in different environments. The manufacturing of such Orthotic inserts and the materials used vary basing on different patient needs, health factors and activities (Body Posture in Microgravity, 1994). Orthotic inserts assists in the care of back pains, lower body conditions, knee problems and diabetic ulcers
Employees face several risks as a result of wearing shoes without Orthotic Inserts. Some of the risks are; knee pains, back pains, hip pains, loss of body structure. All of these factors affect production directly. The loss of human working days as a result of nursing pains as a result of long hours of standing at the work place, has affected the sales of the company greatly. There should be an insurance cover for employees with foot wear issues to be able to have Orthotic shoe inserts. This will improve their operations, increase performance at the job site and ultimately increase the sales of the company (Body Posture in Microgravity, 1994).
In a bid to ascertain how many employees in the company have orthotic inserts, how many employees need the orthotics shoe inserts, and the kind of employees who need orthotic shoe inserts, the company had to undergo a research study to be able to find answers to these hard questions.

The employees sample was selected. The sample selected was representative enough and the findings as a result of the sample selected would represent the views of the general employee base. The use of Questionnaire was adopted as a means to collect data among the employees. The data would then be analyzed and conclusive findings be presented.

Research Findings and Analysis

Do you have Orthotic Shoe Inserts?

Analysis:

20% of the employees in the company had Orthotic shoe inserts at the time of the study while 80% of the employees in the company did not have Orthotic Shoe inserts. Lack of awareness of Orthotic shoe inserts was attributed to the lack of the devices in their shoe. Majority of the casual laborers who often stand long hours, at the job site, were the main employees who did not have Orthotic Shoe inserts (Morris, 2007). This is the main group that always suffered from back pains, knee pains and complained about their body structure. They are the main back born of the company and greatly suffered from absenteeism hence affecting company productivity and sales.

Analysis:
20% of the employees in the company needed Orthotic shoe inserts and had them, While 80% of the employees in the company needed Orthotic shoe inserts but they did not have them. The 80% margin of employee staff that did not have Orthotic shoe inserts though they rely needed it, form the basic groups of employees that suffer from challenges as a result of wrong foot wear (Morris, 2007).

Question 3:

Do you stand for a long period of time while on duty?
Analysis:
10% of the company employees did not have to stand for long hours while on duty. They represent the administrative officials of the company. 90% of the company employees needed to stand for long hours while on duty. They represent the casual laborers of the company who generally boost production. They form the majority number of employees in the company; they are the back bone of sales in the company. They are the most affected party as regards to wrong foot wear and frequently suffer from challenges as a result of wrong foot wear and lack of Orthotic shoe inserts, makes them prone to back aches, knee pains and irregular body structures. Providing insurance on foot Orthotics on such employees would be more beneficial to them (Morris, 2007).

Components of the Bio Mechanics Report

In the report we will look at the various kinds of foot problems, we will also confirm how these foot problems affect other body parts, we will study the different kinds of orthotics that are available and finally look at how the feet orthotics solve different problems as a result of wrong foot wear.

Analysis:

Over- Supination & Over- Pronation
The human feet are the basic foundation of the whole body. Misaligned feet or poorly functioning feet could result in effects that are felt by the whole body. The employees could experience muscle pain and joint pain. Employees in the company suffer from over-pronation or excessive supination as a result of their work environment and the nature of their jobs. Adopting shoes with orthotic inserts will go a long way in helping them to reduce back pains, knee pains and help them maintain a straight body posture. Employee’s health affairs should be looked at, considering the nature of job environment, and the nature of jobs assigned, insurance cover for the employees as regards to orthotic inserts should be rapidly approved to limit that increase in biomedical challenges experienced by various employees because of their footwear in the workplace (Frank, 2006).
Orthotics Inserts are custom made devices that control excessive supination and pronation that a foot goes through when cycling, running and walking. All people naturally supinate and pronate, but problematic occurrences could come from excessive movements either way (Metheny, 1952). Pronation control different types of shoes with features that provide stabilization mechanisms that help top control wearing of the shoes. Orthotics, on the other hand, helps in controlling the mechanics and stabilizing of the body.

Different Kinds of Orthotics Available their Shapes and Material

Orthotics is grouped into two categories described as accommodative orthotics and functional orthotics. Examples of accommodative orthotics include night bars, gait plates casts, splints, and braces. They are used by any individual, and they relieve mild foot pains and attempt to correct the minor foot problems. Functional Orthotics is used to solve several foot challenges. Orthotics varies in the material used to make them, Rigid orthotic devices are composed of carbon fiber or plastic. They are used to control the motion of the joints in the foot. Soft orthotic devices are composed of foam and silicon and are useful for people with arthritis or feet deformity that affect fatty tissue on the bottom of the feet. Semi-rigid Orthotic devices are composed of soft and compressible material reinforced by several rigid materials. They benefit most athletics. Rubber, leather, metal and plastic are additional types of materials that create orthotics devices.

How the Feet Problems Affect Other Parts of the Body

Back pains are as a result of wearing shoes that do not have orthotic inserts. Employees normally experience back pains, ankle or arch instability and hence a resultant back pain. This could affect performance as the employees will seek leaves to attend to back pains and, in the long run, reduce performance. Knee pain is also another risk that arises from wearing shoes that do not have orthotic inserts while in the line of duty. Employees experience, knee pains as a result of the instability of the feet and ankles, improper footwear and misalignment of the ankles and feet (Magnus, 1987). Instability of the feet and ankles can cause excessive motion and rotation to the joints, up into the legs and the lower back. Improper footwear is also a major factor of knee pain. Employees from the company should purchase their footwear from a recognized professional sales person. The footwear bought should have orthotic inserts, and this is all aimed at reducing employee knee pain as a result of wrong footwear. Misalignment of ankles and feet is also another main reason employees in the company experience knee pains (Magnus, 1987). High arches and low arches limit the range of motion in the legs causing secondary stress to the muscles and joints.

How do Feet Orthotics Solve problems as a result of wrong footwear?

Orthotics Inserts are effective in the treatment of back pain. The force that is transferred from the feet and up to the legs and to the hips could cause misalignment in the pelvis and spine this often results in sharp back pain adoption of orthotic footwear inserts would go a long way in helping this. Orthotics reduces the rotation of the various ankles and hence stopping the transfer of these rotations to the hips, knees and the back. Adoption of orthotic footwear inserts will go a long way in reducing the back pains of the employees. (Licht, 1966).Orthotic footwear will highly benefit employees by stabilizing the feet and legs and reducing the joint pains. Proper orthotic inserts, will reduce the damage and pain experienced as a result of misalignment of ankles and feet.

Proposed Company insurance coverage on Orthotic Shoe Inserts

As seen from the principle of insurance, the damage might be as a result of several different factors. With more focus on the principle of causa proxima also nearest cause, insurance companies look at the damages encountered by the insured, they further look at the nearest cause to the damage. With the report from their experts as to the nearest cause of action, the insurance companies may compensate the insured or not depending on whether the nearest cause of damage was a factor of insurance (Lehmann, 1992).
The management should keenly look into the health plan of their employees. The health plan is the main insurance cover that aims at indemnifying the employees as a result of several different ailments that hamper the body from normal behaviors and activities. From the study conducted, 90% of the employees are casual laborers who are the backbone of the production. They are involved in the production process, and they stand for long hour’s in order to sustain the production process (Lee, 2009). These employees of the company are rapidly faced with several different risks as a result of their footwear.
Wrong footwear, considering the nature of their job and the environment of the workplace is the main reason employees continuously experience constant back pains, frequent knee pains and ultimately assume an irregular body posture. All of these directly affects production, as employees offer to seek leaves, take day offs to go attend to these sharp pains that hamper them from active participation at the job place and ultimately reduce their productivity and efficiency at the work. These complaints are not covered by the employee’s health cover plan; it, therefore, comes as a burden to the employees in seeking medication as a result of their health cover.
The employees are not able to get treatment from the hospitals when they complain of frequent back pains, knee pains, muscular pains, and when they complain of their ark body posture. The medics often complain that the subject matter is not covered by their plan. This, therefore, necessitates the intervention of this policy recommendation to cover employees with orthotic footwear inserts. This will indemnify the employees of the company against pains as a result of their footwear. They will be able to receive messaging services, consultancy fee on several different ways to aid the back pains, knee pains, and the pains as a result of wrong footwear.
Foot orthotics as a subject matter of insurance cover should be a policy that all the employees of the company should adopt. By partnering with an insurance company, together with several recommendations from doctors in practice, the company might develop an orthotics footwear plan for all the employees in the company (Footwear, 2011). With the help of this cover, the employees of the company are bound to be indemnified against several ailments as a result of their footwear. The cover might cover the purchase of the right pair of shoes, recommend the right structure of footwear and implement the orthotic insertions in all the foot wears of the employees within the company. The cover might also have a plan in place to treat the patients who experience, back pains, knee pains, have irregular body structure as a result of their footwear in the job site. With the intervention of the new orthotics footwear cover plan, employees in the company are bound to be indemnified against all the ailments resulting from working at their job place. Adoption of an orthotics footwear plan for all the employees in the organization, will reduce the rate of sick leaves and ultimately increase efficiency in the company, increase productivity among the employees of the company and in the long run improve the sales of the company (Cailliet, 1992).

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is obvious that majority numbers of the employees who stand for long hours are the employees who are in charge of production. Previously, sales of the company were hampered but with adoption of the proposed insurance cover on orthotic shoe inserts, this will reduce the rate at which these employees attend sick leaves, pick off days to nurse wounds that arise from back pains, hip pains, knee pains all of which emanate from wrong footwear (Lehmann, 1992).

Summary

The report details an explanation of the Effects of Foot Mechanics on Body Posture and the benefits of Shoe Inserts. The main purpose of the consulting report is to convince a the manager of a developed organization that it is beneficial to provide coverage on orthotics and shoe inserts for their workers to prevent worker injury that will be costly to the company, and thus providing them with the coverage will actually help them save money.
