Human Relations Theory
The majority of the staff feels that the management has worked on building a good personal relationship with them and at the end of the day, it highly motivates the staff. Building a healthy relationship will affect the organization in a positive way work wise and financially too. Most of the staff appreciates the effort made by the managers when they take their time to listen to them and be able to establish a good rapport with them (Spronck & Compernolle, 1997, 46). A healthy relationship will make the employees gain the trust of their managers and management as a whole and with will make the employee feel more relaxed and free to express his thoughts and ideas openly. This will also make the managers be able to communicate and coordinate with other employees from other departments because it would have eliminated the barriers that are usually brought about by the job title of being a manager.
Few of the staff members are not sure whether the managers listen to them to create a personal relationship with the staff or they are just playing a role mandated by the organization. Some managers just give you the staff a lending ear and end up judging the employee thus some employees may decide to refrain from being open and honest with their bosses with their personal life and information (Freyberg-Inan, 2004, 28).


A relation between the staff and the managers is important as it creates a healthy working environment. Creating more time to interact with the staff either in the office or out of office, would be highly encouraged as this will improve the bond between the manager and the staff. For example, the company might decide to have some departmental activities such as staff retreats, camping, going to charity events and even doing a departmental showcase. Such activities will involve the whole department with the manager also included (Wegmann & Preiss, 2010, 33). The activities mentioned above will highly improve the relation between the manager and the rest of the members of the department. The staff members will now see and gain respect towards each other from an external environment that is out of the office walls.

Systems Theory

Interaction of the members of the various departments in an organization is important as this creates cohesion between the staff members and also creates a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in the workplace. The majority of the staff feels the manager encourages interaction of people outside the department. The interaction is done by having several interdepartmental meetings that are arranged by the managers involved. A few of the staff are of the opinion that they are not sure whether the manager plays any role in encouraging any interaction with other staff in other departments.
The majority of the staff members also feel that the management is encouraging the creation of both formal and informal networking. The management is making this possible by providing opportunities for informal interactions to happen with the employees across the company. Though, there are few staff members who feel the company does not do anything that encourages the development of formal and informal methods of interactions in the organization. These staff members may in departments where interdepartmental meetings are done so they do not see that taking place in the company
In an organization, interdepartmental relation and interaction are important. Holding regular interdepartmental meetings increases the rate of interaction among the staff than when everyone is seated in their departments (Rose, 2010, 76). It is an appropriate method of an organization for staff members from different departments to meet and socialize with one another on a personal level. The method of interaction will create a feeling of freedom among the employees and also create a level of friendship that wasn’t there too. The management seems to be having various activities in which staff members from different departments interact such as having a project that involves several members from different departments. Such activities break the barriers of being seen as an outsider and employees come to make new friends, and other levels of interaction arise from such activities.
The manager also seems to be a factor in encouraging the department members to interact with people outside of their department. The manager can achieve this by creating a bridge between members of different departments. Several members of two different departments can be given a task to solve or act as source of reference. Through this interaction, staff members tend to interact without being forced to do so which will start as a formal way but later in turns into an informal relationship. Working on a given task is quite a nice way to introduce new staff into a company, and it is highly effective.
