Good Waterloo Regional Police Service Case Study Example

The major problem in this case revolves around the waterloo regional police service (WRPS) common information management systems (CIMS). The problem has been persistent for quite some time and there is now due necessity to ensure that it is fixed. In light of this, the manager, Gravill, has to make a choice between signing off payment of $350,000 or to cut the losses of WRPS.
Essentially, the major background documents that should be accesses to consider the implementation of the new project are the business case as well as organizational process assets. Business case documents are essential in providing fundamental information and details regarding the operations of the organization. Organizational process assets documents will provide the details that will appear in the systems which are vital to the success of the organization (Movold, 2009).
The project manager can obtain these documents by collecting and reviewing the organization’s previous documents in order to gather relevant information necessary in aiding this. Still, the project manger can look the documents in the company’s existing systems that are to be replaced in order to obtain up to date information.
Functional project organization will be quite suitable for this project. It provides implementation of various functions which work hand in hand with each other in order to achieve a common goal which is the focus of the organization.
For this project, I would propose PMBOK framework. This framework is easily implemented based on the nature of the project in hand. It provides for high efficiency in ensuring proper implementation of the project. The framework has different segments which provide for alternative adoptions in order to achieve the purpose of the project. This framework can complement with modern technologies appropriately in order to provide the best results desirable. The framework can be customized as appropriate to perform as deemed right.
