I. Question 2
First, dedicate at least one staff meeting to going over the complaints customers have had and the health inspectors report. Discuss the problems this has and will continue to cause if not remedied and why it’s in everyone’s best interest to work to eliminate the complaints. Second, set a goal of eliminating all complaints within three months, with a first month goal of complaint reduction by a third, and a second month goal of complaint reduction by half. Clearly explain how each goal can be achieved, namely staff members will need to pick up towels, remove litter and wash down the shower stalls. Create a way to measure staff progress and compliance such as providing a weekly bonus to the staff member that cleans the most stalls. Furthermore, have managers perform unannounced locker room inspections. Reprimand staff members for any dirty stalls or litter found during the inspections by explaining how it negatively affects the whole health club’s goals and remind the staff who the complaints and reprimands can be stopped.
