Review Of A Performance Essay Examples
Not so long ago I went to the cinema to watch one of the popular movies - "The Grand Budapest Hotel" directed by Wes Anderson. This experience was very interesting for me and I enjoyed it greatly. In this paper, I want to describe my expectations of the film and impressions I got after watching it.
I decided that I wanted to go to see the movie after watching its trailer on the web. There was nothing extraordinary about the trailer and what was shown in it, but what caught me first was the style of the film. It was not ordinary, it had some special feel, it seemed to be very dynamic. I could not guess at once the genre of the film, as there clearly were some funny moments, but it was not a classical comedy. There were some dramatic moments, but it could not be called drama as well. So, I understood that I had to watch the movie at least to understand its style and gender.
Still, before going to the cinema, I decided to form some opinion about it and understand what I expected of watching it. I searched for the information about the director of the movie - Wes Anderson and saw that he shot interesting movies before this one. They had a special style as well, and I became interested in the movie even more. The genre was a mix of several known ones, having elements of action, comedy, drama and sometimes even thriller. I understood that I had to see the movie to plunge into the story and see its unique realization on the screen as it was seen by the director.
I was interested in the film and intrigued by its story. From the trailer I found out that the story was about the concierge of legendary hotel Grand Budapest and the lobby boy who gradually becomes his best friend. Together they get involved into a whole range of interesting events that followed the death of the woman that was often visiting the hotel. In the trailer, the story and the development of the plot seemed fast and really exciting. I thought that the film would surprise and fascinate me. Although the general line of plot development was named and partly shown in the trailer, it only added to the intrigue and made me wait for the time I can watch it in the cinema. I wanted to spend my time in a pleasant and amusing way and open the creative works of Wes Anderson to me.
Thus, I went to the cinema with such expectations, found my place and prepared for a great portion of positive emotions. I should say that within the time the movie lasted, I was definitely fascinated and could not take my eyes off the screen. The events developed so dynamically, the plot itself was so interesting that I can say that my expectation were not simply met, but were exceeded in fact. I received a lot of joy and will definitely remember these emotions for a long time.
First of all, I can say that the style of the director is definitely the right one for me. It keeps the audience in pleasant anticipation and strain. It does not make them relax in a good sense of this word. This unforgettable and attracting dynamics, beautifully set and well-thought scenes and decorations – all of this is definitely great. I can say that I became a fan of Wes Anderson after watching this film and will wait for his next works.
I think that such movies best suit those people who do not like stereotypes and who are ready to have real fun. They want to be surprised, they want to be fascinated and this is exactly what they get from watching The Grand Budapest Hotel. The story is so vivid, some new scenes are really surprising and often cannot be expected, and it is very interesting to find yourself in some viewpoint or thought that you were not prepared to.
I enjoyed watching the movie so much that I do not think that I would want something to be changed in it. The overall impression is solid, extremely pleasant and remarkable. I especially enjoyed the humor in it and some comic moments, as they were not trite or beaten, but instead fresh and bright. The dramatic moments were not depressing or disappointing. They added some special charm to the film and enhanced the plot, making it even more surprising and extending one’s worldview.
