Art & Architecture Research Proposal
Goals and Mechanisms of the Project
The project aims to film a documentary on the development of the art history of France from the 19th century up to date. The project will involve visiting various elemental cities in France with significance in the work of art. Some of the elemental works documented will be works from the following artist: Theodore Chasseriau, Gustave Courbet, Eugene Fromentin, Leon Bonnat, Peirre et Gilles, Matthieu Laurette and Xavier Veilhan. These cities include Paris, Marseille, which is one of the edgiest art cities in France, Nice, Arras, Toulouse and Nancy. The Museums to visit are as follows:
Paris: Centre Georges Pompidou, Louvre Museum, La Halle Saint Pierre, Jeu de Paume
Marseille: Musee Cantini, Musee des Beaux-Arts, Musee d’Art Contemporian
Nice: Matisee Museum, Villa Arson Centre d’Art
Arras: Musee d’Arras
Toulouse: Foundation Bemberg Museum, Les Abattoirs, Musee des Augustins
Nancy: Musee des Beaux-Arts de Nancy
The culminating action off the filming of the documentary will begin in the city of Nancy to Marseille through all the other cities mentioned. The film will capture the various forms of art in the cities and the museums from the impressionism era to the modern art. The process will also involve the filming of significant pieces of artwork and analyzing the art movements in which these works of art originated.
Financing and Transportation
Finances will originate from funds, loans and grants. The finances will cover the transportation costs throughout the exercise. Since the project will involve travelling through all the cities to gather useful information on the development of art, a larger percentage will be allocated to transportation. Transportation will involve cheapest and fastest means depending on the situation, for instance, using trains when there is traffic will be elemental.
Accounting for time spent away from school
Since the exercise will be a learning process, every useful event will be documented in a not only the film, but also in notebooks for reference while at school.
