The article is essential in pointing out the positive impacts of technology in learning while appreciating the detrimental downsides of the digital divide. The norm of students coming to class, to listen to their instructors, then head home to practice learned concepts has been overtaken by events. Students listen to lectures on videos just before class and then purpose to applying that knowledge in class with the assistance of their teachers. Entry and integration of digital tools and materials have reduced the levels of frustration among mathematics students is a crucial win for both the teachers and the students.
Big-screen web portal tools are used in place of the blackboard to demonstrate points. Learners undertake hypermedia digital assignments in place of pen-to-paper hardcopy reports. It has led to the substantial increase in the ease with which the students learn mathematics. The downside is students who do not have access to broadband internet are negatively affected. They cannot measure up or keep up with their classmates in coursing instructional videos and tackling online study.
There is a safe side though in not having access to the internet at home. It helps making a student more organized and focused because he or she has to concentrate and complete the assignments while they are online at school. It is up to the teachers to reduce the effects of home internet deficit for the underprivileged students. Teachers are not giving homework that is web-based due to the digital divide and the desire for equality in learning.
Learners who access internet at home know to use it to power their natural curiosity. However, the underprivileged ones may have the curiosity yet fail to access the internet. Digital roll-out reduces dropout rates, escalates student’s success, upsurges student’s interest in math-oriented careers and improves student ownership of the whole learning process.
The article is worthwhile because it gives a real angle on the tremendous benefits of integrating digital tools in learning. Mathematics and science are subjects that need practical demonstrations and so using web-portal videos is necessary for delivering content to students. Motivation is the one essential element needed for success in mathematics-related subjects and science. There needs to be an appreciation of factors that crucially impede the integration of technology into instruction and learning. Instructional, organizational and curricular issues have to be addressed. Teachers are at the forefront of introducing technology in learning. As such, they also need to be trained to develop interest and explore these new education skills.
It is necessary to train teachers in the application of online tools, portable learning, interactive whiteboards, and authoring digital learning materials. Great mathematics instructors purposefully embrace online techniques to improve learning. However, there needs to be an increase in mathematically-oriented technological tools. Mathematics lecturer’s insights of their digital skills are essential tools for predicting the success of technological integration in classroom learning. Students taking mathematics should be better exposed to a curriculum that integrates instructional basics in digital technology.
The adverse effects of the digital divide have prompted local governments and organizations to improve access to the internet. Pilot programs have been launched and digital educational programs are in place to integrate digital tools into schools. The government has made entry into the broadband issue because digital divide is at the center of the whole education process. It is inadequate for students to just access technology, but it is also crucial that tailored educational programs are developed to make the integration of digital know-how fit for students. Programs to avail broadband access to disadvantaged students are also underway. The internet will be made cheaper for public schools.
