The case is about the fire which broke out when the when Carnival Splendor left the California long Beach on Sunday , November 7, 2010 to Mexican Riviera. The cruise was planned to return back to the Long Beach with 1,167 crew and 3,299 guests on board on Sunday, November 13, 2010. This was to mean the sheep was to take a week away before coming back. Everything went well as planed until on Monday, November 8, 2010 very early in the morning at about 6:00 am when the cruise was now 200mile south of San Diego, California when a fire started at the aft engine room and a smelling smoke which was seen billowing out of the ship rear was seen and reported by the passengers. However within some few minutes, the fire was put off with the members of the crew with the help of the fire suppression system built-in the ship. The good message is that no passenger or crew was hurt during the fire extinguishing process.
The fire cause grate damages to the overhead power supply lines and the switchboard that interfered with the supply of electrical power to very important areas like that of communication, propulsion and other systems of operation leaving the ship without any running system hence dead on the sea. As a result of this incident, and due to the fact that the ship carried most of the passengers who were American nationality, the Panama agreed to permit a United States of American independent federal agency known as the National Transportation Safety Board and the US Coast Guard to help in the investigation to determine the factor that led to the cause of fire in the ship (Carnival Cruise Lines).
