I am the lead and my daily life is pretty much non-radioactive. I am the heaviest of all the metals in my non-radioactive community. I usually hang out on the surface of Earth’s crust but when collected by humans, scientists and chemists, they transform me into many uses, some good and some bad. I sometimes float through the air and water and eventually settle on soil, which is my favorite place to be. I am pretty much everywhere in various amounts. With science and chemistry, I have been collected and studied to my very atom. For these reasons, I am useful in some areas of life on Earth.
My element is stable and my atomic number is 82, which is the highest of all the stable elements. I am poisonous if consumed in high amounts by a human or animal. My chemical composition can cause nerve and brain damage if consumed, so please don’t eat me. I have been known to kill by way of lead poisoning. At one point in history, I was used in paint for homes and that did not turn out very well so the government put regulations as to where I can be used.
Sometimes I am an ingredient for bullets and batteries. I can move very fast and cause a lot of damage and also I can be a transit for energy and light. When collected in large amounts, I am extremely heavy. When not exposed to air, I am bright and silvery with a hint of blue. When I come in contact with air, I turn colors, like a chameleon, and turn tarnished and gray. Scientists also identify me as Pb, which is Plumbum in Latin, and can be found with that symbol on the periodic table.
Though I have a few uses, overall I am pretty dangerous to humans and animals. I wish it were different but my true purpose is to lie on Earth’s surface but thanks to science, I have been identified and now that you know me, you are aware of my capabilities.
