With the advent of the e-commerce, the consumer patterns of online consumers play a big role in understanding the way an online purchase is achieved. The main objective of the study therefore is to identify the reasons which delay or make the consumers hesitate while making the purchase and hence, result in them abandoning the shopping carts midway.

Strengths:

1) The study covers all the major areas which help in understanding the causes of a failed purchase (order not placed) by the consumer.
2) The summing up of the results of regression is done well in the form of tables and makes it extremely reader-friendly and easy to interpret.
3) The author/s have used several statistical methods such as regression, standard deviation etc which help further provide evidence to the study hypotheses and hence make for a well rounded and well researched study.

Weaknesses:

1) The study is overtly focused on the psychology of the consumer when making the product purchase online. There is no consideration for the factors such as the consumer service provided by the company (albeit online) to the consumers or even the ease of transactions (purchase of returns) that might influence the purchase.
2) The study is focused mainly on college students. The study completely undermines the capacity of the working people and their role in online shopping.
3) The study also generalizes the products. There are different buying tendencies for different products. For example, for high budget products such as jewellery, the purchase decision will be much delayed than for low-priced products such as utility items, groceries etc.

The Economic Sector That Has Most To Gain

The study would prove to be much beneficial to the online fashion stores. Since the study focuses on college students, one needs to realize the segment of the market which is most affected by these students. The college students are most interested in the latest fashion trends and the ease of purchase by way of online shopping will help the online fashion stores increase their sales.

Relevance To The Economy

If I were to rate the article on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the article at 6. The paper is based on the research conducted only on college students. However, the mentality or the psychological factors of other buyers (non-student) has not been taken into consideration. Thus, the study presented cannot be generalized.
