Three basic operations that can perform in lathe machine include; turning facing, and boring. 23.8 Reasons for performing reaming operations.

When using a machine reamer the hole is first drilled slightly under size then reamed before drilling the next hole ensuring that the reamer gets aligned accurately over the hole.

Saddle mainly refers to a casting that fits onto the top of the slides and the bed. This part contains selection of gears that allow the carriage to be driven up and down the bed. The mechanism allows the screw cutting and other powerful tool feeds within the machine.
23.1 Difference between a blind hole and a through hole
A blind hole refers to a hole made from the top layer to the bottom layer to some middle layers but not all through. On the other hand, a through hole is made all the way through the board layers. A through hole saves the cost of operation and may be used in low density boards. However, blind hole increase the cost of operation since it require a multi-layered board in to produce better results.
