Introduction

Human development is linking with the presence of money in one’s pocket, and everything in this world has received a monetary value directly or indirectly. The societies all around the world are operating on the basis of the golden principle referred to as social exchange. The individuals have to serve the societal systems, and in return, they receive monetary and nonmonetary payments as well. However, according to the book entitled “On Human Work” professional engagement is not the end within itself, and it sponsors the journey of growth and personal development (Paul, 54).
The organizations have to offer their employees the opportunities to better themselves, and meaningful work is going to create a difference in one’s life (Paul, 48). The abovementioned literally piece of knowledge argues that work is the process of letting the self grow whereas, the labor summarizes a life that one spends in order to manage the routine. The managers of the organizations have to learn the lesson that considers everyone with the competency to learn and improve.
The writer of the under review book pointed out towards the need to create learning organizations those should value the human factor. The employees must have the freedom to think freely, and the managers must ensure that the efforts of the lowly ranking officers should not go to waste. With the passage of time, the traditional organizational setups with the culture of command and control are dying out because the companies are in need to have creative employees, and a wound up one will not be able to fulfill the changing needs of the work those the world of 21st century has. Paul is urging the companies to cause the employees to grow, and they must economically and socially develop within the communal systems so that their personal levels of life satisfaction can enhance as a result of professional development that they achieve in their work lives.
The role of manager has developed into a versatile one during the recent years because the trend and concept of teamwork is finding its applicatory place in the flatter version of the global world. The world has transformed into a smaller village as the information technology is rapidly growing in terms of interconnecting the world in both communicational and intellectual sense as well. The people are well aware of their organizational rights nowadays, and therefore, they are turning over jobs in order to find new and lucrative ones, and the former employees of the bigger organizations are emerging as entrepreneurs as well. In this way, the companies are facing countless challenges regarding development of means and methods to withhold their human capital from spilling into the vast competitive market with numerous opportunities present.
However, the progressive organizational regimes such as Apple and Microsoft are looking to create lively and enjoyable working environment where employees and managers can live their jobs rather than just doing them. Additionally, the concept of work is transforming into creative employing that makes the ordinary worker into an esteemed organizational participant. The communicational quality of organizational world is gathering significant value in the current and relevant managerial literature, and therefore, the workers are not willing to manage the routine because they want to see their efforts through. In the view of democratic school of thought, larger group controls the operations of a national entity, and the organizations are becoming democratic systems with the forward moment of time because managers have to play the role of facilitators while employees take the major operational decisions. They develop business plans and entrepreneurial ideas those find application through the organizational channels.
Pope Paul wrote a book that did not find application in his time because the organizational science was too primitive at that time, but in the prevalent organizational philosophy, the thoughts of an intellect are making perfect sense. The professionalism has grown into a psychological phenomenon rather than a physical one, and the image of slave was changed into that of a worker who had some limited level of freedom, and he or she had the disputed right to receive payments against the work he or she did. The work under microscope advocated that the workers have to receive the status of internal stakeholders that they eventually did in the present organizational regimes.

Conclusion

This paper has discussed the prominent and dormant conceptual identities discussed in the book of Pope Paul II with the title of “On Human Work” that established and emphasized on the organizational requirement to have strengthened employees. The academic work considered the companies’ masses as sources of power because managers have to work through them in order to serve the strategic goals of the organizations. The managers have to assist the employees regarding their developmental needs, and in return, they will engage their best abilities to serve the organizational cause. In the view of Pope Paul, the organizations are arenas where human politics operate in order to achieve stated goals and objectives.
