Good Example OF Business Plan On Ease OF Doing Business In Kuwait And Lebanon
Business Environment in Kuwait and Lebanon
Business Environment in Kuwait and Lebanon
The ease of doing business in Lebanon was last ranked at position 111 in 2013. The “ease of doing business index” is used to rank countries from position 1 to 181. By a country having a high ranking, this implies that that country’s regulatory environment is actually conducive to carry out business operations (Ease of doing business index, 2015). On the other hand, Kuwait was also last measured in 2013 at 104 (Ease of doing business index, 2015). This means that the regulatory environment in Kuwait is more conducive to do business as compared with Lebanon.
Human Development Index in Kuwait and Lebanon
As per 2013, Kuwait realized an immense progress in the Human Development Index (HDI) by climbing to number 54 globally, with a HDI of 0.814 as compared to position 63 in 2012 with HDI of 0.813. This country ranked 4th on the level of the Arab and Gulf Cooperation Council, beating Oman and Saudi Arabia. This gave an indication that this country’s achievement for such international and regional progress serves as an affirmation of the level of the efforts that have been put in to realize human development irrespective of the challenges it has encountered in the course of the recent years. Moreover, such progress can be attributed to the continuous and intensified effort in all aspects that anchored the current government’s approach (Kuwait makes big progress, 2015).
On the hand, in 2013, Lebanon had a HDI of 0.765 and stood at position 65 in the world. This country’s HDI puts it in the category of “high human development” (UNDP, 2014).
Gross fixed capital formation in Kuwait and Lebanon
The “Gross Fixed Capital Formation” in Kuwait rose to “77746.40 KWD million in 2012 from 7261.60 KWD million in 2011” (Kuwait Gross Fixed Capital Formation, 2015). On average, this figure stood at 1883.18 KWD million between the period 1964 to 2012, hitting the maximum level of 7746.40 KWD in the year 2012 (Kuwait Gross Fixed Capital Formation, 2015). On the other hand, the Lebanon’s Gross Fixed Capital Formation or GFCF (current LCU) was measured in 2011 at 17380000280559.10 (Gross Fixed Capital Formation in Lebanon, 2015).
High/low context Business in Kuwait and Lebanon
Both Kuwait and Lebanon have high context cultures. In these countries, a larger portion of information in a particular message is encoded within the physical context. The message may also be encoded within a culturally prescribed collection or roles, rules and status (Intercultural communication theories, 2015).
Extent of Competition in Kuwait and Lebanon
There is water scarcity, unfavorable climate, and soil infertility, as well as absence of skilled labor, which has made Kuwait to be a poor producer of agricultural commodities such as fresh fruits and vegetables. This offers a business opportunity for whoever wants to export such commodities to the country (Mordor Intelligence LLP, 2014). This is actually a golden opportunity for Kafresh as it will not encounter much competition from the local producers. On the other, it is reported that Lebanon has started exporting fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia and other countries (Halawi, 2014). This implies that there may be still competition in the local market and that is the reason for the local producers seeking to enter into international or foreign markets. Thus, entering Lebanon into the Lebanon market might be quite challenging.
