The situation makes fierce clashes to be underway between the government troop and extremists. ISIS has seized the villages of Albu-Ghanim, Sjariyah, and Soufiya that were under the control of the government. According to Fox News, the militants bombed a police station in Soufiya and captured a power plant. The situation of the residence in this village is worsening day-by-day as the state of anonymity fearing is increasing for their safety (Associated Press, 2015).
On Wednesday around noon, to the northeast of Ramadi, the militants opened another front with the government forces on three additional villages. Due to a significant blow of Iraq forces pushing the Islamic State’s group out of Tikrit, a hometown of Saddam Hussein. ISIS get involved and dealt with the situation. Metaphor such as fierce clashes and seizing of villages are used in the context to frame a conceptual idea through the contrast of things. The Fox News has applied framing on the topic about ISIS in Iraq through the narrative of the event in a vivid and memorable way (Associated Press, 2015).
For those who are in the frontline of saying no to terrorism, they will be the best audience to receive this framing. Through the residence of the seized villages, we can learn that the situation is offensive to humanity. On the other hand, Muslims in Islamic State of Iraq and Syria will tend to disagree. They believe that the war was started due to discrimination of the minority group, the Sunni. Having gone barren peace riots, they decided to join hands to fight against majority group, the Shia. Therefore, all news against them, beside in whichever frame they think is manipulated and distorted.
Framing effects happen when two messages that are reasonably equal but expressed otherwise to have a divergent impact on people’s responses. The framing effect is an example of perceptive bias. Communication, for instance, the news from media, is used to increase risk-reducing actions and portrays a valid perception to the audience. Therefore, the media should know the significance of the message before framing it. For instance, if the fierce clashes of ISIS taking control over Iraq are framed by an ISIS member it will have different perceptive to the audience response.
The implication of framing is to provide a storyline that gives meaning to relating strip of events as well as weaving a connection among the situation. Framing help to build a decision frame that refer to the decision-making concept of the response to messages. Other framing techniques include artifact, and this is incorporating intrinsic symbolic values. For example, a cultural occurrence that has meaning than the object itself.
