Good Thesis Statement About Gender Roles In The 17th And The 18th Century
Prior to the American Revolution, the description of the women in the society was a role that was not far from that of slavery (Archer). Women in the sociopolitical context did not even transcend in their choices for marriage. In particular, the woman role and position in the American economy were equally not substantial. Economically, women were also not empowered; their roles maintained subsistence domestic household duties (American Centuries 1). For these reasons, the 17th and the 18th century defines an era of discrimination on the political and the economic empowerment of women.
Looking at the context presented by American Revolution, the forefront of these concerns is the active role of women politically and economically (1). Women seemed to be more than simply in the crowd that was pushing for changes in the American context. With every detailed perspective to this revolution, women were more of political spies in the revolution (the American Revolution 1). Equally, the women married to the political leader fronted the role of foot the concerns of marriage were not fair to the female fraternity. In particular, this shows the levels of political dominance that the male gender had owing to the support received from the women. Looking at the economic concerns of the women in the American Revolution, the main economic activity was in farming and trade. The women mainly came out active in the economic and political activities.
In sharp contrast to the gender role in present day, one will notice a good degree of change back to the role of women, all dating back to their influence in the American Revolution. With the effects of equity in gender concerns in the mid-20th century, the women saw to it that their participation in national politics, economics and nation building were recognized. The larger divide harmonized into fair and equal opportunities for men and women. Women now had better representation into the political affairs and economic trade; in particular, this envisioned in the provision of education on equality basis.
