Overcoming Obstacles in Academic Career
Setting goals in college is the aim of every student, but achieving those goals is the part where many students struggle with the most. To achieve my academics goals I have to evaluate myself every week by creating a to-do list. The to-do list will comprise of daily goals as well as weekly goals. The to-do list I believe will hold me accountable and gear me towards achieving my goals. I will start setting goals before school starts and when school is ongoing. I believe that setting goals before school starts will help measure whether you are on course to achieving my academic goals and also helps to identify what needs to be changed.
It can be difficult sometimes to stay focused on academic goals. Staying focus on achieving academic goals involves time management and frequently setting short term goals. Setting long-term goals can be difficult to achieve, but setting frequent short term goals will help achieve a long-term goals. Time management is a key area for achieving academic goals. Creating a schedule and time for every aspect of the day will ensure academic success. Procrastination which is a result of poor time management is what leads to many unachieved academic goals. Time management is key and it will prove to be very helpful if it used wisely throughout my academic career.
It is important to identify my strength and weaknesses during m academic career. Academic advisors are important assets to use in helping me to identify my strengths and areas that need improvements. Academic advisors will help me choosing classes that fit my strengths and give me advice and also provide strategies on tackling each class. Also, it is important for me identify my strengths and stay focus on what I can achieve. There are always areas for improvement and those are easier to identify when I identify my strengths. It is important to hold myself accountable in achieving my academic goals. Academic advisors could also make me accountable for achieving my academic goals by ensuring am making good grades and keeping up with my classes.
The time frame I have set to achieve my goals are semester plans. I believe that as a student every semester is different because I take different classes that might be easy or difficult. Due to this, I cannot use the same strategy I used in the previous semester. My academic goals will be the same, but I will use a different approach towards achieving those goals. I believe that setting goals in shorter time frames will help achieve short term academic goals because it is difficult to achieve long-term academic goals. Using different approaches and strategies per semester will help tackle new different phases of the semester. Things such as time management, studying and creating a daily schedule or to-do list will be something that will never change per semester. Having a 4 month time frame for achieving academic goals versus a one year plan is that the 4 month plan helps you deal with the current situation which will set me on course to achieving the long term academic goals. It also to ensure that I am not using the same approach to tackle each semester because not all semesters are the same. I believe having a short time frame is the best way to achieve academic goals.
