Leadership plays an important role in success of a team or organization. Effective leadership is essential and desired in all fields such as sports, politics, business and entertainment. Leader, I admire is Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon. Jeff Bezos is the key person behind the success of Amazon. Bezos has charismatic personality and capability to inspire others. Jeff is capable to motivate his employees and develop healthy work environment. Organizational vision developed by Jeff inspired his followers. Employees at Amazon shared a common vision that is organizational growth. Jeff develops shown right path to his employees which helped them to deliver desired performance.
Bezos displays transformational leadership style that motivates employees towards organizational goals. Transformational leadership style, adopted by Bezos, inspired his people which helped organization to survive during the difficult time of e-commerce bubble. Amazon is now a giant e-commerce player operating in different markets across the world. Major characteristics of Jeff Bezos are: capability to develop vision that facilitate long-term organizational success, customer centric organizational strategy, service oriented, and integrity & trust. Bezos and his team believe in serving customers efficiently and delivering customer satisfaction. Innovative technologies and readiness to serve changing needs of the customers provide company competitive advantage (Amazon).
Under the guidance of Jeff Bezos, Amazon is continuously making changes in terms of adding new benefits & features in order to provide efficient customer service. Innovative services such as trusted advisor received praise by the customers. Collaborative environment and innovation driven work culture motivate employees to bring new ideas that can improve customer service and keep Amazon top on innovation. Leadership qualities of Jeff Bezos helped in gaining the trust of employees. Bezos created healthy collaborative work environment that promote transparent working processes. Bezos empowered his employees so that they perform their responsibilities in efficient manner.
Bezos has risk taking ability, which resulted in creation of Amazon at the time when people were not even much aware with e-commerce concept. Amazon provided customers a new way to shop. Bezos has capability to see the vision which provided customers a unique platform where customers can buy any product at any time at competitive price. Bezos saw different advantages of e-commerce and brought those advantages to customers. Bezos also developed a close relation with its employees, which encouraged employees to work hard in order to deliver their best. Core values created by Bezos are integrated with all organizational processes. These values can be seen in actions performed by the company and its employees (Northouse).
Leadership style and qualities of Bezos took organization to a new height of success. Currently Amazon is a domestic name not only in America but in various international market. The company left various big companies such as Wal-Mart and eBay behind when it comes to customer satisfaction. Bezos is a great leader who not only sees the future but very effectively manages & motivates his team to achieve his vision. Innovative processes, high service standards, low prices, efficient delivery, wide range of categories & products, and safe payment mechanism developed under the guidance of Bezos helped company in attracting and retaining large base of loyal customers. Business strategy and organizational objectives clearly depicts what company wants to achieve and how to achieve.
