The French Revolution is an uprising that took France from a monarchial rule by King Louis XVI; to a republic rule by the people, then back to dictatorship by Napoleon. It is considered the bloodiest time in the history of France. There are many reasons behind the French revolution, for instance, the economic crisis in France, social injustices, and quest for equality and liberty. The French government had undergone a serious economic crisis resulting from the continuous wars in the country. They incurred losses thus got loans from the American colonies; therefore, people were living in poverty due to the terrible financial situation. The revolutionists wanted to find a solution to the problem by over throwing the monarchy and installing a new government that will deal with the people’s problems.
Secondly, there were social injustices from the regime and therefore, the revolutionists wanted equality and their rights. The peasants were strained to disburse taxes as the elites enjoyed; as a result, the revolutionists thought it was time to fight for equality in their nation. The people were fed up with the monarch and they started the rebellion in order to be free and have equal rights.
The French Revolution was inevitable because France was undergoing serious financial constraints there needed to be change in its governance. In addition, the forces behind the revolution were building up for many years and they could not be stopped. The French Revolution was started in order to establish equality, liberty, relief in taxes, and to establish a new constitution that was to govern the people of France. In essence, the French Revolution was a notable event in the history of France, and it played an imperative task in transforming France.
