The Pros And Cons Of Living On Campus Argumentative Essay Example
There are those people who prefer staying on the campus and those who don’t. It, therefore, means that there are reasons for this. Due to this, living on the campus has both advantages and disadvantages. In most cases, the pros are more than the cons.
There are various advantages to living on campus. First, it improves intermingling and socializing with different. People from different backgrounds, cultures and societies meet when they live on the campus. They hence develop the various habits of intermingling and socializing for making better citizens (Bhd, 2014).
Second, it is easier to study and do personal reading on campus. Anytime one feels like reading, discussing or doing reference on particular matter, they will always go to the library, discussion squares and any other place within the campus from where they can complete the assignments, do discussions and personal reading (Choron & Choron, 2004).
Third, life on campus is cheap. Most prices for food, accommodation and other things are cheap. One cannot spend more like they would have done if they live away. They cannot also pay fare and other costs for them to arrive at the campus (Choron & Choron, 2004).
On the contrary, there are also cons. First, one cannot learn how to survive on their own. It is because, life on campus is cheap, and the students cannot therefore learn how to work hard and survive on their own (Bhd, 2014).
Second, there is reduced privacy. People and the university can easily monitor what one does while on the campus. Some campus rooms are open to everyone and, therefore, hard to keep one’s privacy. Life away from the campus ensures privacy for people (Bhd, 2014).
Third, it is hard for those living on the campus to make personal investments and other things. Those living away can easily do this with other stuff as part-time employment. Through such dealings, they can quickly and efficiently do investments (Choron & Choron, 2004).
In conclusion, there are, therefore, the pros and cons as living on the campus are concerned. The advantages and disadvantages have apparently are present, and it is upon one to make sound decisions as to where they prefer most.
