Booker Taliaferro Washington was naturally introduced to a slave family in an estate in Hales Ford, Franklin County, in 1856 Virginia. Booker Taliaferro Washington would become a standout as one of the most compelling black pioneers during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. He sought to better race relations in the United States in the aftermath of the Civil War when slavery become outlawed.
