Management Plan for Adventure Paintball Park Business

Introduction
Organizations that operate with management plan are like a meal that lacks slat. For a company to carry out its activities in a smooth and effective way, it must have a well structured management plan. Outdoor Adventure Paintball Park is a company that is jointly owned by Carl Thomas, Joe and John. The business was established to provide local community that is young adults, teenagers and work teams to practice, get entertained and enjoy outdoor events. At the beginning, the business seemed to take a positive direction but due to poor planning, individuals including employees and customers have started complaining. At this point, the business is no longer propelling forward due to managerial problems. To rectify this critical situation, this paper crafts a professional management plan which is in line with the four essential elements of management. Furthermore, weakness and strengths of Adventure Paintball Park will be brought to the surface with the aim of reviving the company (Case, 1995). The paper will further distinguish the responsibilities of each worker and manager of this company. In the development of management plan, this paper will use collaborative management model. In addition to the creation of a balanced scorecard, this piece will put together recommendations geared towards the development of the business.

Strengths
Initial success of Outdoor Adventure business has been facilitated the proper used of the four basic management elements. At the beginning, John, Joe and Carl planned properly, organized all activities as required and control of the business was quite okay.

It is the following strengths;

Initially, it experienced increased customers due to limited sports in that community.
Enough capital for setting up the business which was contributed by Carl, Joe and John.
Enough physical structures like battlefields, shooting gallery, buildings and air ball fields.
Initially, the employees worked effectively.
They offer outdoor events that supersede their competitors who located 40 miles away.
Increased market share due to mass media campaigns.
High prices for every entertainment and outdoor events.
Weaknesses
As Carl, Joe and John started to enjoy high sales and high returns; they forgot to implement strategies that catered for expansion of this business (Reid, 2000). As a result, it has begun to decelerate. These are some of their weaknesses;

Inadequate employees cause the company to offer poor services.

Scheduling problems from the management.
Poor training of employees causing many mistakes at work.
Carl together with other employees has lost interest and passion in the business.
Employees do not have understanding of their roles.
Collaborative Management of Outdoor Adventure Paintball Park
Collaborative Management is where the staff members and employees are actively involved when making the company’s major decisions (Reid, 2000). Equally, collaborative management requires members to be responsible when undertaking various tasks. Since the Business is jointly owned by three heads; Joe, Carl and John; it is advisable to utilize collaborative management.
Currently, it is clear; the few employees’ self efficacy has gone down and they no longer get interested in working. They complain of too much work, overworked in areas where they have no experience and they feel that they need extensive training from John. John on other hand, he fails to provide training anymore. Equally, Carl Thomas’ passion on this business has faded as situation that makes him contented with the current situation of Outdoor Adventure Company. Outwardly, employees and administrators have created a negative attitude toward the company. Customers have realized this and that is why they question the mission and vision of this company (Case, 1995). Researchers proudly agree that collaborative management gives a chance for each member to be active when it comes to management. This creates recognition and self-worthy among employers and employees. As a result, the lost interest towards work is likely to restored using this model.
Focusing on Outdoor Adventure Paintball Park facilities, there are many facilities that guarantee entertainment and outdoor sports. Such facilities include; civil war field, five battle fields, air ball fields and shooting gallery. Managing all these facilities requires enough trained employees. Each section requires different experience and therefore, employees are not to work in both sections. Through Collaborative approach, employees’ views could have been taken seriously by Carl and his fellows. Since they participate in making the company’s decisions, employees would recommend for hiring of more personnel and inclusion of training programs. Studies on effective business strategies agree that businesses whose employees have lost morale need to try collaborative management.
Leadership structure in this company also needs to be rethought. It seems that Carl Thomas wants to boss who is staying in a closed office while the other work hard to train, they end up loosing the morale. Management system in this company has brought the company backwards. Incorporation of collaborative model, it will probably change this system.

Responsibilities and the roles of owners and employees

Failure to define individual roles in this company has contributed to its deterioration. From the Owners to employees, nobody knows his boundaries as far as responsibilities are concerned. As a result, employees are pulled from one section to another even when they do not have skills in that section. To make it workable, there need is to have clear responsibilities of each individual. They include;

It is understood that the owners including Thomas Carl have little management skills, there is need to incorporate experts in the process of developing and implementing a strategic plan. Secondly, Outdoor Adventure Paintball has limited number of employees; therefore, they should plan to hire more workers who will work in specialized areas rather than moving from one area to another. In conjunction with this, employees need adequate training. Outdoor events and sports require extensive training. It is clear and mandatory for this company to start training programs whereby all employees including management staff should be engaged. Joe, Carl and John seem to work without coordinating events (Case, 1995). It leads to misunderstanding especially when scheduling events. Indeed, there is need for coordinating company’s activities from the staff members to employees. All events and activities of the company need proper organization and arrangement as this will create a good picture to the community. Since many workers have lost morale, it can be restored by motivating through rewards. Nevertheless, management needs to act fast to any negative information.
This company is characterized by poor plans, blurred mission and vision, poor management and last coordination among the members and the owners. For instance, John is no longer taking care of shooting gallery; instead, he looks forward to convince individuals such that they start a team. It implies that Uncle John lack direction and is ready to deviate from the company’s objectives to pursue his own plans. Additionally, here comes Carl Thomas, the boss, instead of taking fast actions, he remains in the office doing nothing (Reid, 2000). Despite that he realize some problems of his company, he nothing to do about. In this regard, the entire system of this company needs to be abolished. Managers should undergo training, acquire leadership skills and get to understand the vision of the company.
