After the World War I, the Government of Britain have been in a difficult situation. Many of the workers joined in the strike and the political stability could not be handled or maintained. The Liberal party retained their office but the demobilization have been causing them much difficulties. The main ideology of the Labour party during the post-war is the socialization of the production, exchange and distribution which means major control of the economy (Dearlove and Saunders 394). After their defeat, they abolished their original objective and changed it into reform within the capitalism. The Conservatives struggled to fight the office against the Labour Party. However, they lost their unity and direction which led to their defeat during the period between wars. The major issue in the government of Britain is its division and lack of unity. One of the common suggestion is the decrease in foreign affairs and focus on the internal development. However, it was not followed due to the aggression and rising tension against the Germans (Dearlove and Saunders 395).
France never fully recovered during the inter-war years due to the high death rate and low birth rate. The political government was divided into two major ideologies which is whether the nation needs to borrow money or not. The French government took little action to the economic problem of the nation (Brown 19). The socialist have been protesting about the lack of action of the government. On the other hand, the coalition of the rightist forces argue about the responsibilities of the Germans over the effects of the war. The political scene was ignited by the moratorium on payment of the French Chamber of Deputies to the Germans. It led to the failure of the government to unify the political parties. The vital force or the loss of élan vital refers to the loss of clear ideology of France during the inter-war years. The major reasons are the resignation of the prime minister and the expansion of other ideologies such as fascism and communism (Brown 20).
