Harry Aponte is a professor who has significantly contributed to the family therapy and the practice for the American family. From his book, Bread and spirit: Therapy with the new poor. He looks at how family should put the therapy into considerations; he defines the structural family therapy, the role of a spiritual therapy and also focuses on how individuals and families in the larger social context.
Family therapy is one of the therapies that might disagree with the ideas from the book Bread and spirit: Therapy with the new poor, by Harry Aponte. A family therapy is used to view and nature the changes that may have occurred in a family. It emphasizes on an important factor in the physiological of health. The author disagrees with the family therapy because many of the therapy who performs it does not take into consideration that regardless on whether the solution will be a family issue or individual issues. Solving the problem will involve a direct participation of the client and therapist. The therapist should not only focus on the solution as a family or individual thing, but also to consider the whole society and its impact on the family problem. Family is broadly as a large society which may in involve long term relationship and people who are not related by blood or marriage.
The larger social structure always has both positive and negative impacts on the family system. For example, the large society interpretation of social expectations like racial, class group, the behavior of different individual gender groups, will have an impact on the family. A family will pass to its children the knowledge it has learned from the large society. For example, a filly will pass to its children on how to survive and deal with prejudice, discrimination and persecution it has learned from the larger society. The process of therapy usually has a change of view on the family members. The therapy process assists in uniting and bringing broken families together it also changes the level of interaction between family members
