Introduction:
Business Intelligence (BI) is a technological infrastructure used to gain maximum amount of knowledge from the given data aiming to achieve the purpose of improvement in business processes. The common BI infrastructural components are the following: integrating, software solution for gathering, sharing data, cleansing, and analyzing. Business Intelligence is a credible source of developing analysis and providing information to users who are helping them make effective business based decisions.

Body:
Energy and finance companies really talk about business intelligence becoming common and affecting them in a good way, but in actual they are still analyzing dated reports that are compiled manually. According to a SunGard survey of executives in two big industries, it’s seen that investigative and proactive techniques are used or an interest has been shown in scorecards, dashboards, analytics techniques and scorecards by only 20 percent of them.
“The primary source of data analysis for a majority of respondents is the ‘after-the-fact’ and reactive analyzes.”SunGard found. Because companies are now reliant on data manipulation manually, spreadsheets and periodic reports, therefore, this activity can reduce their capabilities to create the proactive analysis.”
Almost half of the companies, 45 percent to be exact have filled the reporting needs via extracting data manually, using cleansing tools, and entering the data information to PDF or spreadsheet formats.

The data shows that BI techniques like alerts and predictive analysis are utilized by 13% of respondents only.

The ultimate goal of Business Intelligence is to make operations work from it, but that won’t happen as soon as it comes into effect Wolk cautioned.
“Once someone has all the data and keep it well organized more “what-if” analysis can be done and the possibility of making good operational decisions increases. For example, a person may think that if prices of a commodity changed to this, how would it affect my P&L? And then the person can start forecasting regarding that, making some predictions while researching some data on it.”
Companies today, have to pay a price for not governing the data properly are paying a price for not having better data governance. Users such as portfolio managers, who use it daily, need to have all the data they require for a particular business deal or trade, but they might not have enough information regarding what are the current market trends.
In most cases, companies do not really require real-time information while their trading and risk management operations distinguish from each other.
An article was written for Dataversity™ over a year ago, about Business Intelligence (BI) which stated that “In the near future at a point BI analysis will be a very simple phenomenon and a frequent aspect of the job for businessmen who desire to maximize its use which may be used as a main resource.”
This prediction was made after the observance of the increasing phenomenon of BI. One of the phenomena is the prevalence of formal education in and the BI tools are being simplified, helping business users in day-to-day operations.
Day by day, the reliance on data is expanding exponentially; almost all data applications require BI or analytics virtually, to virtually any application of data requires analytics or BI to extract sub-sequential action.
According to Gartner, Inc there are clear benefits to the business managers of decision-making based on facts. There is a wide range of disciplines, which include: marketing, supply chain management, engineering, sales, manufacturing, engineering, HR, risk management, and finance.
"Only big changes are prominent in the BI analytics world including the expanding use of real-time data streaming, dominant data discovery techniques, and much more," says Roy Schulte, vice president and analyst at Gartner. "Due to the cost of storing, acquiring and managing data is continuously decreasing more and more companies find it practical enough to apply BI further in a bigger range of situations.
Enterprises today recognize the information’s economic value and do not miss out a single opportunity to implement larger amounts of detailed data that will be capable of making sense out of event streams. This is something other than casual mainstream and traditional BI than to the breeding of latest technologies able to produce inferences and autonomous insights quickly.
Search has become of the main importance to business intelligence, but just one kind of search is performed by BI products: Performing search on predefined stuff from databases. That's just not good enough anymore for two reasons:
There is a considerable chance that some other person maybe from some other department, but same organization has performed similar sort of research analytics on the data a person has been planning to analyze. So instead of searching for the same material all over again it would be great to look for such data applications and utilize that work.
Both structure and unstructured all data and information needs to be accessed by an ultra modern BI system. That is because not so much information is stored in the relational fields. It's something big to analyze tables of text and numbers, but it's important to analyze insight from, e-mail, Web content and blogs, news articles, social media, and automatically generated data. (Gartner.com)
Through BI access to all data would be something big in upcoming years not just what's in table structures -- is now mission-critical. Organizations are demanding the ability to access, analyze, and use the information. A good example of this is the industry of healthcare, where massive amounts of data are generated by the doctors handwritten form, MRI scans, prescriptions, patient notes, X-rays, diagnostic lab results, and other conventional physician-generated data of patients. So BI solutions are capable of must organizing this information as easily as they record patient billing, hospital staffing, payment collection, and several other hospital management functions.
Through this conventional search that has been based on looking for paradigm and keywords is so assertive that it is difficult to search regarding something think without defaulting to the particular set of rules. Although the simple keyword search method still exists, it should just be used as the basis and not the target to be achieved. Therefore in the upcoming 12 months, dramatic improvements are expected to process the content as well as refine it, included in technologies related to search that will make us less reliant on looking for specific words while still taking us to the right place. (Ienco)

The future of Business Intelligence and management lies towards the improvement of the simplification of BI methods.

Training: The number of options available for the formal education in the particular field has enabled greater access to the professional’s access to those skills that are required to manipulate the tools.
Organization: Restructuring of Organizational matters is very important since the IT departments are more along with the business and the objective used by business to restructuring so that IT departments are more attached to the business and its objectives to use that very data for the purpose of training the former companies where it was needed the most.
Technological Advances: Great facilitation is provided by the consumerization of IT, by the ease of data discovery and its use, etc.
Big Data: The impact of Big Data on Data Management places a larger analytics and premium on BI while making conditions flexible making use of third party analysts easier.

Conclusion:

The Future of business intelligence and management seems very green. Nowadays just t the big multinational organizations have Business Intelligence, and Data warehouse implemented. Already major companies have started to use data analysis extracting information from raw data to benefit themselves and these organizations in the future would use this data for effective decision-making and Performance Analysis. The time these steps would be taken, it would be immense pressure for business intelligence to serve the need of people at various levels effectively and efficiently.
For the process of review, it would require registering audit comments and business comments on performances when they occur. Accountability of data would slowly change to merge Audit ability, when the present patterns of fixing come through. Eventually, this change would incorporate the business spirit motivating them further rather than just following the laws as written while not understanding them.
The other change that is predicted is even more interesting than this. At this turning point, be it any management they would like to have the relevance of qualitative data with quantitative. The fact is here that Forecasting would be taken into consideration. These are the ideas which are newly born yet there would be tumultuous and enormous discussions in the future regarding how to create a friendly and an effective environment for this in the near future, in such a way which would benefit all dimensions including, take-away, cost benefit and give-ins of course.
In the upcoming three years, business manager of the companies and the companies alone will become entirely reliant on real-time business information, in a much similar way that the people expect to attain information/data from the Internet as quickly as possible. This quick experience that the internet gives them will develop the new groundwork for business intelligence, but the way businesses process will eventually have to change to exploit and accommodate the real-time flows of business information. -- Nigel Stokes, CEO, DataMirror Corp., Toronto (Tdwi.org)
