“A book a day keeps reality away” goes the famous quote. Enthusiastic readers create a whole new world for themselves according to the kind of books or magazines they like to read. My predilection is for books and magazines that not only keeps me in touch with the serious issues or reality but also shows me the lighter or rather, the fictional side of life.
As a case in point, I like to read books by the author Dan Brown. This is because he makes use of places that actually exist in the world and creates a world of fiction around them. He also makes use of actual paintings and poems to build the whole novel. For example, in Inferno, the latest book by Dan Brown, the entire book revolves around the famous poem was written by Dante and that too by the title ‘Inferno’. The painting used in the novel is that of Sandro Botticelli. The author also keeps on giving historical background to everything while he narrates the story.
Similarly, I like to read the TIME magazine because it discusses serious topics together with news of celebrities and the like. It contains an obituary section also for famous political and movie personalities. It also enlightens the reader about the most popular quotes, somewhat amusing too, made during the week. Moreover, it features magnificent photography that is completely unique. Lastly, it contains a ’10 questions’ section that usually involves a candid chat with an illustrious personality. Therefore, the TIME magazine is a complete package if one wants to read the grave opinions about terrorism and genocides but it is also a cornucopia of other interesting items that take one away from reality.
