A topic that draws my attention is school shootings. School shootings are a common phenomenon in the present day and have been happening for a long time. It is a form of violence that is practiced inside or outside a school’s premises and usually involves a person or people carrying weapons or pistols with them. There are many questions that arise with school shootings such as who are these people who think of inflicting violence and trouble in a school with innocent children and what motives could be behind these shootings.
Since the past, school shootings have been rising especially in the United States where there is the highest rate of school shooting incidents. The shooter could be anyone really, according to research and statistical records. It is not important that the shooter would be any loner or isolated person with some personality disorder; there are many people who crave killing and shooting and carry a violent streak in them. For such people, schools in the rural and exurban areas are a treat. Sometimes, the shooters are teenagers or criminals who belong to certain gangs and shooting is just something they do for money for anyone else who they work for. At other times, these shootings are done as a basis for revenge, and many teenagers are prone to this habit. There have been cases where girls have been killed for not reciprocating for a boy’s love or a teacher was killed for not giving a fair grade and fights amongst boys and general threats have been actualized by school shootings and murders of students and teachers.
There are several queries regarding the safety of students and staff in a school when it comes to protection from school shootings. There need to be steps taken to prevent students from carrying weapons and arms inside a school and the government should take steps as to who needs to be given the license to carry arms and who does not.
