A research project was conducted in Fahari Maize Millers Company aimed at expanding the business to other parts of the country. Having grown from a small retail business to a company management sort to increase their production and broaden the market to other regions of the company. The research involved a plan of set up branches in various regions of the country. The company specializes in processing and packaging of maize flour. The study was conducted taking into consideration the raw materials that are corn and the extent of the farmer’s dedication to maize production. The research is conducted in various parts of the country especially those areas with good climate that favors the planting of corn. There were different methods used to gather information during this research, among them the use of questionnaires to be filled by various farmers and consumers. Interviews were conducted targeting head of farmer's associations and groups. Other area of the research included one-on-one interaction with a sample of farmers and consumers in order to get their views and experience of maize farming, the current market prices and sales of the maize products in their various areas. Consultations (Baporikar, 2014). Possible challenges to the setting up of the branches in the various regions reviewed during the research and means of coping with the challenges were established. The challenges posed; among other were competition from an existing company offering the same product, in some of the areas, farmers concentrated on small-scale farming while in some areas there were insecurity issues. There are a number of unethical practices associated with research. Those that should be avoided in this research are; Falsification and fabrication of the results obtained from the study. It is the responsibility of any researcher to ensure that no data is falsified in any way. The research should the distortion of data found or omission of the same. It can be done by ensuring that the research is documented and preserved orderly and (Polonsky & Waller, 2011). The data acquired should be presented clearly and in an orderly manner and most of all it should be complete. Another unethical issue to be avoided by the researcher is the leaking of the project to other companies. The research conducted by the researcher from this company should not by any chance be shared by the company’s competitor or any other company for that matter. In other words, confidentiality of the report should be considered, and strict access to the project be granted to those who are approved by the company. Leaking of this report will lead to the questioning of the researcher’s integrity. Intentional tampering or removal of data, interference with the research or damage of the instruments, equipment and properties of research is also considered as an unethical practice. Biases should be avoided too as it does not bring out the required results from the study. Biased data cannot be reliable in making of conclusions and recommendations (Baporikar, 2014). Ignoring of misconducts performed by other researchers during a research is also considered as unethical practice. It’s the responsibility of the researchers to report all faults to the supervisors for them to be dealt with and also to prevent the research from being interfered with. The parties that will be affected in case of unethical research practices are the researchers themselves, the company for it depends on the accuracy of the research for its expansion and the company workers as any negative impacts on the enterprise will be felt by the employees, and finally the consumers and the society as a whole (Polonsky & Waller, 2011). The unethical practices in this research could affect the company negatively in the sense that the results provided won’t be accurate. The recommendations and the decisions made based on these inaccurate results will lead to making of uncalled decisions. The integrity of the organization will also be questioned by the workers and consumers. These practices will also result in poor or lack of integrity to the researcher (Baporikar, 2014).Their employees will lose faith in them, and this can result in loss of their jobs if exposed. As in if the researcher distorts data, for instance. The effects of this unethical behavior in the society can also be drastic. For example, if the researchers are biased during the research, they can end up misleading the company on their decision that will later be impacted on the society. The loss of faith in the researchers and the company can also be a result of the unethical practices mentioned above. The unethical practices if discovered can be monitored and put on the check. It can be done to ensure the smooth and accurate recording of data to prevent data loss and distortion. When documents have been falsified or fabricated, the supervisor or whoever is in charge can recommend the repeat of the research process in the area affected. To prevent biases the researcher have to be rational and have a high level of integrity. It will enable them to come up with more accurate results based on reason and facts. The interference of the research by destruction of equipment and research items can be avoided by ensuring the researchers are accountable to their leader for all the equipment issued (Jankowicz, 2005).
